History

Rachel Carpenter is the daughter of Julia Carpenter, the second Spider-Woman. Rachel has been witness to many superhero conflicts in her short life. Not soon after her mother got superhuman powers, Rachel's mother started to work freelance for the government. Because her work was classified, she couldn't explain her absences, and so Julia lost custody of Rachel to her father, Larry Carpenter.[2]

Conflicts in Julia's superhero career kept her away from Rachel frequently, until she joined the West Coast Avengers and developed a more stable working situation. Rachel revealed she knew Julia was Spider-Woman,[3] and she soon moved into the Avengers Compound after the death of her father.[4]

Later, Spider-Woman joined the superhero group known as Force Works. Rachel and her mother even moved into the base of the group called The Works.[5]

Civil War[]

This all changed the moment the superhero Civil War started. Although Rachel's mother was registered, she was secretly helping the underground resistance of the superhero community. When this came out, her mother tried to flee with her daughter. She was about to leave the country with Rachel when she was caught and imprisoned. Rachel was however brought safely to her grandparents in Colorado.[6]

After her mother was released by Ms. Marvel, Julia worked out a deal where she and Rachel moved to Canada.[7] Julia joined the joint task force called Omega Flight.[8]

Notes

At the time of the Civil War, Rachel was nine years old.[9]
