History

After some time out of the public due to burnout and scandal, Stark returned to daily life.

Hydra attacked a gamma plant where the remaining armor had been stored stored; Stark and Sitwell investigated.

The gamma bomb's detonation brought the Hulk to life. Hulk caused Stark's helicopter to crash. Tony suffered major injuries to his heart, and put on the armor to save his life. Feeling like he was given a second chance, Stark became active as Iron Man.

He later learned that the armor design was not flawed; it had been damaged when Rebel secretly challenged the Titanium Man.

Capabilities

The armor is constructed with hollow tube structures. The conduits and interfaces are wrapped around them. The structure allows air to flow freely and helps with temperature and pressure changes.

The armor's alloy is a combination of titanium and carbon nitride. It is covered with a special Aero-Gel that resists heat, sound and vibration.

The armor sends small nanobots through the bloodstream to repair any damage to the wearer. In the case of severe wounds the bots form a patch. Sudden loss of power in this state could cause additional damage to the wearer.

Beta particles are extracted from the air via electromagnetic field. This produces energy and superheats the air into plasma, which is vented through extraction tubes. Thermocouples are used in conjunction with the tubes. The armor can operate indefinitely when airborne.

The armor can also recharge itself through conduits on the chestplate.

The armor functions underwater, but the heat transfer is hampered by running water.

The armor is able to flash-dry after being in water.

The armor's paint is actually an LED coating. allowing it to cloak. Individual armor pieces automatically cloak when removed. The chestplate magnetically pulls them into place when needed.

The armor responds to multiple control methods; neural, voice, or eye-tracking cursor control. Vocal commands can be broadcast for intimidation purposes.

The armor's sensors cover various spectra as well as compare DNA and linguistics for identification.

Energy emitters in the gauntlets use a fire-control computer for various energy wavelengths: repulsors, a tractor beam, low-grade forcefields, and a light refraction pulse.

The chest module can fire lasers or produce holograms.

Plasma vented from the extraction tubes can also be used offensively.

Magnetic discs could be set to polarize and repel each other.

Stark had designed defensive measures for whenever he has unarmored. A contact lens was given a miniature magnesium flare. Packets of "solid air" could be thrown to deflect projectiles and blades.
