The past history of Peter Parker of Earth-78327 mirrors that of his Earth-616 counterpart up until the day that Peter was to watch a demonstration on radioactivity. In this reality, astronaut John Jameson would be bit by a radioactive spider. Witnessing the event and finding the dead spider interesting, Peter would collect it to examine later.

Much later, John would become the costumed hero known as "Spider-Jameson the Super-Astronaut" and his exploits highly publicized in the Daily Bugle a newspaper owned by John's father J. Jonah Jameson. Peter, needing money, would attempt to get a job at the Bugle but Jameson would only hire him as a freelance photographer if he could take a dynamic photo of his son John in action.

The opportunity would seemingly come when John would be called to save an out of control space capsule and prevent it from crashing. John would sacrifice his life to save the astronauts on board, cushioning the capsules landing with his own body. Following John's death, Parker would be in attendance of his funeral in Central Park where a large statue of John would be erected. When Peter would offer his condolences to John's father, the elder Jameson would tell Parker to get inspiration from his son.

Peter would take these words to heart and use the venom within the dead spider to create a serum that would duplicate John's powers. Peter would take the serum and become the costumed hero known as the Amazing Spider-Man.
