Quote1 This is either damage from the current alien attack or old damage from the last alien attack. Being attacked by aliens is basically S.W.O.R.D.'s mission statement. Quote2
Beast[src]

The Peak was the orbital headquarters of S.W.O.R.D. located in orbit around the Earth.[3][1]

History

While working with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Abigail Brand monitored the "mutant situation" from the Peak.[3] After arresting Ord, S.W.O.R.D. imprisoned him on the Peak while they investigated his claims that Colossus would destroy Breakworld.[8][9] However, Ord was freed when Danger was able to covertly broad the Peak.[10]

As one of the first steps to open war, a Skrull impersonating Dum Dum Dugan boarded the Peak and detonated a bomb that destroyed the Peak and nearly eliminated S.W.O.R.D.[5][11][12]

The Peak was eventually rebuilt.[13]

When Commander Brand's brother, Lothi, was brought to the Peak in S.W.O.R.D., it wasn't long before Death's Head broken him out to collect a bounty on his head. With Brand preoccupied, Henry Peter Gyrich began his "No More Alien" campaign.[1] Gyrich worked to arrest or abduct as many aliens from Earth as possible and imprisoned them on the Peak. Fortunately, Beast and Brand were able to thwart his plans and prevent mass deportations.[14]

The maximum security prisoner, Unit, was able to breakout of the Peak by detaching the entire brig. Brand recruited the X-Men to recapture the prisoners then blackmailed Cyclops into keeping the prisoners in the X-Brig on Utopia until the Peak's brig was repaired.[15]

After arresting Cammi, she was brought to the Peak. During an interrogation with Special Agent Brand, Cammi was abducted by Arcade.[16] Months later (after Murderworld), Cammi fled from Earth and pass by the Peak. Despite monitoring her, Brand chose to led to go free.[17]

To heal Broo, Beast brought him to the Peak to consult with Dr. Xanto Starblood, a notorious criminal and xenobiologist.[18]

When Cyclops was kidnapped by Death's Head, Mindee Cuckoo and Benjamin Deeds used their mutant powers to infiltrate S.W.O.R.D. and board the Peak where they met Iron Man.[19][20]

When Deathbird mysteriously arrived at the Peak, Brand called on the X-Men to assist her in finding out why. Not long after, the Peak was attacked by a swarm of Sidrian Hunters and then the Providian Order and then the Broodskrulls. With the assistance of the X-Men, Brand and S.W.O.R.D. were able to fight of all of their opponents.[21]

An small group of Brood were able to board the Peak claiming refugee status. Unfortunately, the Brood were a trojan horse for Symbiotes who infested Brand, Deathbird, and the rest of the S.W.O.R.D. crew. Beast, Spider-Man and his Special Class were able to free S.W.O.R.D. and defeat the Symbiote-Broods.[4]

X of Swords[]

Three weeks before the beginning of the Tournament of Swords, all contact with the Peak ceased and defense grid went offline. When all efforts to contact the Peak and rescue missions had failed, quarantine measures were enacted.[6]

When Banshee returned wounded from Otherworld, Prestige and Cable received a vision from Opal Luna Saturnyne of the Peak. With help from Marvel Girl and Cyclops, Cable travelled to the abandoned space station and used the Light of Galador to re-power it.[6] The trio explored the abandoned station and discovered that it had been infested by the Vescora, who killed the entire crew. They were able to fight off the Vescora, but left the station deserted again.[22]

During the final battle of Tournament of Swords, as it appeared that the champions of Krakoa were losing to Arakko and it's demon forces, Cyclops devise a plan to save the day. Cyclops had Magik open a portal to Otherworld large enough to allow the Peak to pass through. With the Peak in Otherworld, Cable powered up the station with the Light of Galador and Magik opened a second portal pouring the Vescora into the path of the Amenthi demons.[23]

Krakoan S.W.O.R.D.[]

With the Vescora on Otherworld, the Peak was retaken by the newly reformed S.W.O.R.D. under the authority of Krakoa and the direction of Commander Brand, who had just separated from Alpha Flight. Under the supervision of Wiz-Kid, the Peak was integrated with Krakoa technology. During his first visit to the newly reopened space station, Magneto moved the Peak to be in geosynchronous orbit directly above Krakoa.[24] From the Peak, Brand began sending The Six to the White Hot Room to begin stockpiling mysterium.[24][25]

After terraforming Mars, Jean Grey and Kid Omega impregnated Monarch with an idea for defending Planet Arakko. Monarch quickly gave birth to The Keep, an orbital space station that is a twin to the Peak.[26]

To prove his loyality to Henry Gyrich and Orchis, Wiz-Kid severely damaged the the Peak causing it to fall to Earth.[27]
