History

Located in Antarctica below Vostok Station lied Old Atlantis,[2] The Peak, the home of three Atlantean races: the Chordai, the Mala, and the Uhari. It was discovered by Professor Calvin Cooley and investigated by the Fantastic Four. The criminal organization A.I.M. had an interest in it as well, and a battle took place between the FF, A.I.M., and the races of the Peak. After driving off A.I.M., the Fantastic Four were taken to meet the leaders of the three races, who announced that they were the old kings of Atlantis.

The residents of the Peak requested a representative to act as ambassador to the outside world. Susan Richards volunteered for this role, and tried to arrange diplomatic talks between the Peak and Atlantis.[1]

When Reed Richards began the Future Foundation, Ul-Uhar, the Peak's highest authority, volunteered his children to the organization, that they could help.[citation needed]

Eventually, it was revealed that the Peak was a last bolthole that the three races were using, and that they had a long history of villainy upon the Atlanteans. However, a great war in prehistory had resulted in their final defeat, and they had been subsequently removed from all formal written history except the secret tomes accessible only to the king.[4]

Ul-Uhar was murdered by Namor at the diplomatic talks, which led to the deciding role of the civilization passing to one of his children. But since both children were too young for the job, it passed instead to their legal guardian - Susan Richards. Cognizant of her new power, she decreed that Namor would give up some of the territory not currently occupied, and that the Peak would make no more war.[5]
