History

Ossem was one of the great patriarchs of the Atlanteans 2000 years ago. Most of Ossem's sons were slaughted by Atlantean barbarians. Ossem's son Balaal began recruiting followers for the ancient god Set and denounced the Atlantean's god Neptune demanding revenge against the barbarians who killed his brothers while Ossem preached pacifism.

When Ossem asked Neptune to intercede, he was originally rebuffed and was told that Neptune did not perform parlor tricks for the weak of faith. Ossem was later captured by Balaal's cult of Set followers who had created a proto-Serpent Crown called the Golden Serpent powered by their psychic energy in the hopes of returning Set to Earth. When the cult tried to sacrifice Ossem, Neptune rained down destruction killing everyone in the cult, but spared Ossem. The Atlantean people at this point scattered and Ossem spent the rest of his life reuniting his people.

On his deathbed, Neptune promised Ossem from that point forward he would take a more active role in protecting the Atlanteans. The period where Neptune nurtured the Atlanteans people and dwelt amongst them is seen as a golden age in Atlantean history.[2]
