History

When the Fantastic Four and the Avengers sacrificed their lives to destroy Onslaught, Franklin Richards, the son of the FF's Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman subconsciously created a pocket universe to save their lives. There they spent an entire year reliving living new lives "reborn" into a world where they recently gained their abilities that vaguely mirror how they gained their powers originally.

This new universe populated by Franklin included recreations of many of these heroes' allies and foes. Among these creations was one based on long time Fantastic Four ally the Silver Surfer. Not much is known about the past of this world's Silver Surfer, however one can assume his origins are similar to that of his Earth-616 counterpart. Regardless of his past he was given power and became a herald of this pocket-dimension's Galactus. In this world, Galactus was a world devourer, however it appeared that he and his heralds would play a part in turning barren worlds into the kind that would grow life that Galactus in turn would consume. One of these planets was the planet Earth, and in modern times, it would become the home to many super-powered beings, some of whom worship Galactus and his Heralds.

Galactus would send the Silver Surfer to check on the status of the planet Earth, and the Surfer's arrival would cause a cosmic anomaly that would attracted the attention of Reed Richards who hoped to witness the anomaly up front in his newly built star-ship the Excelsior. The coming of the Surfer would also attract the attention of Dr. Doom and a group of rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (in reality Skrulls led by Kl'rt.)

Stealing the Excelsior mission data from the Storm Foundation computers, Doom would have the rogue SHIELD agents take over the Excelsior project and seek to try and capture the Surfer using nuclear weapons. Not wishing to be denied his mission Reed Richards, along with his comrades Susan Storm, her brother Johnny and Ben Grimm would fly into space aboard Reed's prototype version of the Excelsior which did not have adequate shielding.

They would arrive just as Doom's minions would attack the Surfer with their nuclear weapons. The resulting explosion would cause Reed and his crew to be bombarded by a mixture of nuclear radiation and the Surfer's Power Cosmic. This would eventually empower the group and they would form the Fantastic Four.

The Surfer would crash land on Earth in the nation of Wakanada where he would remain unconscious for some time. He would be recovered by Dr. Doom who sought to syphon the Surfer's power for his own. During the recovery mission Doom's "S.H.I.E.L.D." allies would also capture Reed and Sue (now Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman) and their ally the Black Panther. The Surfer would be hooked up to a device that would attempt to syphon his powers and Dr. Doom would force Richards to finalize the device by threatening Sue's life.

When Reed completed his task, Kl'rt would reveal his true identity, seeking to gain the Power Cosmic for himself so that he could use it to get revenge against Galactus for destroying the Skrull throneworld. He would absorb this power, becoming the cosmic powered Super Skrull. Ben and Johnny (now the Thing and Human Torch) would arrive shortly after with Wyatt Wingfoot which would lead to a battle between the Super-Skrull and the Fantastic Four. The fight would end when Reed would free the Surfer who would clash with the Super-Skrull. The resulting battle would lead to the death of the Skrull's and the destruction of the castle. The Surfer would be restored to his full power and survive the blast, not forgetting the fact that Reed saved him, he would come to consider the Fantastic Four his friends.

The Surfer would return to Galactus and advise him that Earth is ready for his consumption, but his encounter with the Fantastic Four would begin change the Surfer's view of the beings that die when Galactus feeds on a world. However, the Surfer would not truly dissent until Galactus had his Heralds Terrax, Firelord, Air-Walker, and Plasma prepare the Earth for consumption.

When Terrax would threaten the Fantastic Four in Central Park to test their Power Cosmic derived powers, the Surfer intervened to stop the attack before they were called back to Galactus for the final preparations. As the other Heralds would place terraformers that would convert the Earth into the energy that Galactus needed to survive, the combined efforts of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers and their allies would attempt to stop them.

Their initial attempt would end in failure, in spite of assistance from the Surfer who would have a change of heart. With the Earth about to be consumed, Dr. Doom would arrive in a power syphoning suit and absorb the Surfer and Terrax's Power Cosmic and attempt to stop Galactus one-on-one, which would also fail. With the Earth minutes away from imminent death, Doom would travel back in time 24 hours to stop the cataclysm from happening.

Doom would fail two more times however, he would gain new devices and knowledge with each attempt. His time travel would also, for reasons unknown slightly alter the course of events which would ultimately lead to the same outcome: the Earth's destruction. In his fourth and final jump, Doom would alter the course of events so that Bucky would be present in New York during Galactus' attack. Visited by the Silver Surfer, Bucky would tell the Herald off for not helping, prompting the troubled Surfer to flee. Bucky, not letting the Surfer get off that easy would jump on the Surfer's board (with Captain America following not far behind on a S.H.I.E.L.D. flying motorcycle.) Witnessing this, Galactus would blast Bucky, knocking her out and putting her in a near fatal condition.

Horrified by what his master had done, the Silver Surfer would then offer his aid to the heroes. At this point, Mr. Fantastic, Dr. Doom, Iron Man, Ant Man and Bruce Banner had all been working on various devices that Doom had brought with him from the future. Using them in conjunction with the Silver Surfer, they would create an "Ultimate Nullifier" which would syphon Galactus' vast energies and turn them back on the world devourer. The Surfer would turn this weapon against his master, and with the devices success destroy Galactus and sacrifice himself in the process.

Although the Surfer would die, his legacy would live on when his residual energies would turn a Las Vegas man into the cosmic powered Sterling who would join the group of heroes known as the Remnants
