Niels is a cat with powers similar to Speedball.

Before changing his identity to P-Cat, he was known as Niels. He originally belonged to Dr. Nicholas Benson, a scientist at the Hammond Research Lab.

After school, Robbie Baldwin worked under Dr. Benson at his lab. An accident occurred while the scientists were investigating an energy source originating from another dimension. Lots and lots of energy bubbles shot out of the energy source and started to engulf Niels, who soon gained powers. This was the same accident that transformed Robbie Baldwin into the super hero, Speedball.

The Speedball Revenge Squad was hired by the villainous Clyde in hopes of taking the feline's powers for himself. They were easily defeated by Speedball. New Identity

After the events at Stamford, CT, Robbie Baldwin transformed from the happy-go-lucky Speedball to the regretful Penance. In Deadpool/GLI Summer Fun Spectacular, Penance explains to Squirrel Girl that Niels is now P-Cat. The penitent puss can be seen wearing a costume similar to the torturing one that Penance wears. It has yet to be seen how the cat's powers have changed (if at all).
