In case you haven't heard about MMORPGs yet, they are the latest revolution in video games where players connect via the Internet to play with or against hundreds or thousands of like-minded gamers. While World of Warcraft currently dominates the market with a mind-numbing 9 million players, Marvel hopes to leverage their impressive collection of characters to share a piece of this multi-billion dollar pie.

Making a successful MMORPG is no easy feat. To ensure they are doing it right, Marvel has enlisted both Microsoft Game Studios and Cryptic Studios who are well versed in making hugely successful online games. Cryptic Studios is perhaps best known for their crime-fighting hero game called City of Heroes and its counterpart City of Villains.

Not much is currently known about the upcoming game, but Marvel is sparing no expense and not setting the release date in stone. This surely means the game won't be released until it is completely ready. Keep your eyes peeled, more news is sure to follow shortly.
