Mister Schores (Earth-616)

HistoryEdit
Mr. Schores was a spy for the Nazis who was active during World War II. By the winter of 1942 he was operating out of Freetown posing as a reclusive old man the locals called "The Hermit", while secretly broadcasting defense secrets to his masters in Germany. During this time, he had also planted a bomb at the local defense factory hoping to hamper the American arms race.
Whenever local newspaper boy Roddy Colt (who was secretly the Secret Stamp) came by delivering his daily paper and offering War Stamps, Schores would refuse to purchase any telling the boy that he was too poor to buy them. This caused Roddy to become concerned over the old mans well being completely unaware of his spy activities.
Roddy convinced his father, who ironically worked at the factory which Schores planted the bomb, to offer the old man a job. When Roddy went to tell the old man the good news, Schores told the young Colt boy to leave him alone. Finding Schore's behavior suspicious, Roddy peeped in his windows and learned that he was really a spy, but was caught in the act and placed in his spies closet.
Changing into the Secret Stamp while the old man was briefly out of his house, Roddy beat him into submission and threatened to gouge out the old man's eyes if he did not reveal the location of the bomb. Learning the bombs location, Roddy turned Schores over to the police and stopped the bomb before it could explode.
Schores subsequent fate is unknown.
