X-Force Vol 3 27 Cover
Edit
Heres another cover.. that needed explaining. It is for X-Force Vol 3 #27. The cover that was already up there was a Finch variant, but my guess is whoever first uploaded it didnt know that and named it X-Force Vol 3 27 Textless.jpg, then later redirected it. So when I uploaded the real version, it wouldnt let me and I just threw in 'Cover' in the name (X-Force Vol 3 27 Cover Textless.jpg). If you could fix this up (the redirect file X-Force Vol 3 27 Textless.jpg goes to X-Force Vol 3 27 Textless Finch Variant.jpg; also there is another file someone uploaded, which is the same as mine, but taken from IGN and it is X-force-vol-3-20100520114310610.jpg which now redirects to the file i uploaded) thatd be nice. just lettin you know. thanks if you can! --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 09:28, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks man! That must have been tough with six different covers, and a few other redirects!
- Oh, and congrats on 40,000 edits! :)

Character Appearances
Edit
Got ya! You know I hadn't been on in two days and I didn't even notice your message because edkaufman's was below. Coincidentally I fixed Kyle's Image page but accidentally thought it was Appearances and put the wrong thing. I fixed it, but if only I had noticed your advice sooner.. Got it now! ;) Also thanks for the fix up on the 198 page. I was gonna notify you of the incorrect images but the database was on hold and my computer keeps on messing up on the internet. Besides, I'm on vacation! I shouldn't even be on here! haha --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 10:26, June 15, 2010 (UTC)
- And you enjoy your summer as well. Let us hope you do not fall back as much as I have in just a few days. :) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 07:44, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm.. I have found a few categories that that did not work on for some reason. --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 12:00, June 22, 2010 (UTC)
- Ch'od (Earth-295)/Images didn't work and there were two more I think.. I can't remember.. --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 01:58, June 22, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah I already went ahead and fixed it manually after it didn't work the first time. --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 02:16, June 22, 2010 (UTC)
Doug Ramsey's Death
Edit
The fact is he is still alive. His death doens't count anymore because he is still alive. You can't put the death of a person, when they are still alive. --Mutant God 15:30, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Eavesdropping here but if a character was dead, such as Cypher, and their death affected their teammates as such, and there were many stories for it afterwards, and such, shouldn't others who died and were brought back have their appearance of death as well? Characters such as Colossus and Psylocke? --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 11:19, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Good point. I've added the info to those two characters' pages. Any others?
- Artful Dodger 17:38, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Would Captain America and Jean Grey count? Also Warlock, as I do not remember his. I did Magik's though.. --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 22:18, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
- I accidentally put the wrong issue. Her death was #303, I put #304 (which was her funeral). Issue #304 was also a part of Fatal Atractions, and so the info for the death also had info from the event.
- And the user? I'm not to sure.. I would say give them a warning first, warning as in block them for two weeks or something like that. I mean they seem to be trying to do the right thing in the few other pages they edited, although most were undone. However, the fact is that that is inappropriate behavior this site doesn't not need. You're the admin, I'll let you decide. ;)
- --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 10:04, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, some people are really immature. Looks like you made the correct choice. --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 09:57, July 1, 2010 (UTC)
- It looks like when you added the appearance of death for Psylocke it put her in the category of deceased characters. Does putting something in the Death field add her to that category? If we are using the field for any appearance of death and not just whether they are currently dead or alive, she shouldn't be in the category of deceased characters.CaptainGetts 19:29, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
- And another thing I just thought of: should it be included for Colossus since the retcon said he never technically died, but he was just thought to be dead. CaptainGetts 19:38, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
Marvel Spotlight Vol 2
Edit
For some strange reason Comics:Marvel Spotlight Vol 2 says at the top (2008-1981). I can not seem to figure out why though.. Would you happen to know why? --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 10:45, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
- It looks like it belongs in Vol 3.. I'll get to it soon enough. ;) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 09:57, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

Magneto Rex
Edit
Hey... don't remove the image field in the comics template completely or else the comic will stop showing up in the monthly gallery in the monthly category. If you put the corrected image field in and then do a no changes edit of the monthly category, the picture should pop back in on the monthly category page. Thanks. CaptainGetts 14:01, July 29, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's the area exactly. I don't know much coding, but I know a bit about databases and I'm not sure how to fix it either. If the monthly category page is changed to pull the image from something like the image's file instead, then I think the issues where we only have textless covers won't show up. CaptainGetts 14:20, July 29, 2010 (UTC)
David Anthony Rice
Edit
Its nice to see you have deleted many useless redirects and the such. :) I set that page up for deletion because.. its empty. There is an image called "File:David Anthony Rice (Earth-616).jpg", but that image is actually of Seamus Mellencamp (Earth-616).. (And they are easy to confuse, both Acolytes, and both green dudes. ;) The image is (I'm almost certain) from Uncanny X-Men #366, and it is definitely of Seamus Mellencamp) Basically, what is the point of having an empty category for a character? --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 03:10, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough. The only image I have ever seen of the guy is from here. But obviously we can't just take it! ;) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 03:30, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
- That would be Gargouille. She (lol) was first shown in the Quicksilver series and actually kept her powers after M-Day and was shown in Uncanny X-Men #492 and #518, where she died. And I think Rakkus (Rice) only appears in a few Avengers comics.. --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 12:08, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
Recorder(s)
Edit
There are a bunch of Recorders. The Regellians built them to observe and catalog things. There are a number of confirmed ones:
1.) Recorder-21, AKA the Analyzer. Was the first one to appear in comics. Appeared in Thor #132.
2.) Recorder #901-E Appeared in Starblasters #3
3.) Recorder #417 - Lives on Earth-829
4.) RIGEL TYPE ZETA-9 - Was a baliff in the She-Hulk series.
According to the Unofficial Appendix there were a number of unidentified Recorders that appeared in a number of capacities. I would say that perhaps there needs to be a general designation for Recorders which summerizes the brief appearances of various Recorders (much like a lot of the alien race profiles covers material from other dimensions etc.) unless they had a significant role in some plot line (IE like Recorder-21 who has about 30 years of continuity behind them.)
Just an idea really.
Re: Recorders
Edit
Works for me. I would have to say the only one that really has enough material to garner their own profile would be Recorder-21.

Moving Images
Edit
I seem to be having problems moving gif files.. Is the only way to save the file, delete the gif, and then upload a new version of jpg? --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 12:41, September 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Are you trying to move a .gif to a .jpg? That won't work because they are different types of files. So yeah, the only way to make it a .jpg is to delete and reupload. Sorry, those awesome admin powers can't do everything :)
- 03:15, October 1, 2010 (UTC)
- Ugh thats what I thought.. I tried that, but I'm haing problems with gif files.. I can save it, but whenever I try and upload it as jpg, it always tells me the file is empty. Any ideas why? --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 03:32, October 1, 2010 (UTC)
- Still not gonna work. If it is a .gif, it can't be uploaded as a .jpg. You either have to convert it with software on your own computer or find the image somewhere else as a .jpg. Most image software will let you export and image as a new format. Microsoft Office Picture Manager will do it...

The troubles with jpgs
Edit
So I seem to be having problems moving jpg files now. The Howard the Duck Vol 1 files to be exact.. I'm at #13, and they just refuse to move for me claiming "the image field does not match the new field" or something like that. Any ideas why? --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 23:38, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
- So I experimented a bit with a few Thor images, and its not that bad every now and then I guess.. Again, thanks for the help! --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 23:18, October 17, 2010 (UTC)
Millie the Model
Edit
Hey, not sure if you've noticed or not, but I've been uploading all 207 images of Millie the Model the past few days. I've got like 20 images left and then I planned on creating all the pages. Not to sound greedy or nothing.. ;) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 22:00, November 26, 2010 (UTC)
- Lol, I was actually looking forward to getting a couple of badges from all of it. :D I've actually finished the Vol 1 page already, I just gotta copy and paste it over from a saved Word file, if you wouldn't mind... ;) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 22:10, November 26, 2010 (UTC)
- LOL! Actually, I think I planned on adding them all in before we even had the badges. But I was lazy, and thought "207? I'll never get around to it". But now that we do have badges... >:) hahah --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 22:46, November 26, 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, if nothing else stay and make one edit each day to get the "14 days in a row", or "30 days in a row" or 60 days in a row", and so on.. Or make a lot and get the "100 a day badge" or possibly a "lucky one". ;) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 22:58, November 26, 2010 (UTC)
- I've made four lucky ones. It annoys me the most when someone else earns it when I'm editing at the same time! lol --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 23:03, November 26, 2010 (UTC)

Textless Covers sources
Edit
Hey Artful Dodger! I use Comic Art Community a lot as a source of textless covers or character images. They have around 24925 images from Marvel, DC and independent comic publishing companies. For original sketches, paintings and other comic art you should also check Comic Art Fans. Have fun! Copycat989 12:26, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Doing Great!
Edit
Awesome job on the pics and pages. Try to use the template if you can. Especially with the comics. It seemed that there was a question on how to use it with an edit from earlier. IF you have questions about it, please ask and someone will gladly help out. I have adjusted the page you were editing to match the template. You can edit from this and also use IT as a "template" for future pages if you need it. Thanks and keep up the great work! --M1shawhan 04:36, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- You can edit the image page itself and mark it for the category . Make some not on the page also so that when it is deleted out, we know for sure why. Then just load the image you want and rename the links that were established on the other pages with the new images "name". That or if it is a different image, load as many as you want. Try to link them to a gallery if at ALL possible.
- You can also respond here so that anyone reading this will understand what we are talking about a little easier. I will notice it and respond. ;) --M1shawhan 04:54, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- I am assuming that I can respond here. I don't know if this is right. Please let me know.
- Perfect! --M1shawhan 05:13, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Then I shall ask a few questions, go to bed, and wait for your wise answers.
Question 1, What is the proper naming convention for cover images? Question 2, How long after I tag an image with a delete tag will it be deleted? Question 3, If I upload a cover image and it is in the gallery, but there is no page for the issue itself, and someone makes a page for it, how will they know that a cover image has already been uploaded? That should hold me for now... --Artful Dodger Bed:time, 7 August 2007
- Depends...best bet (for now) is to go off this link. Let me know if this one helps.
- The time for deletion is a work in progress. If it needs immediate attention, definitely let us (or me) know and it will be deleted ASAP. In most cases, I am usually the one that deletes pages and User:Copycat989 is the best one to note on for image issues and deletions.
- This is a tough question. The easiest and truthful answer is...they won't unless it is linked to something. Unless someone searches the entire image gallery and they search using your "image name" it is a "needle in a haystack". The best thing is to attach it to a dead template if nothing else and that way it is on there and good to go (just as you did with the X-Men 444 page). As long as it is attached somewhere it is MUCH easier to catch and link somewhere else.
Note: For a quick easy way to attach it to a dead link - Use the cover gallery that you have been - on the red links that have images - click on them and when you edit the page use the "buttons" above the edit area and specifically the "book" button for comics. This creates a blank template and then just put your image name in the Image = area and save. That will save you a lot of heartache in case you forget where or how your image was saved. This also allows your image to get up there first and get seen the most (the comic pages can always be edited later for content).
- You'll get the hang of things. Just be sure to ask questions and check out the forums as well - many answers on there too. Hope you enjoy and I am also off to bed. Feel free to shoot me an IM, if you use it. My username is on my userpage. --M1shawhan 05:32, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Alright. Now I am in the swing of things. The templates are working well and I am adding a least a little information so I can hold a place for the issue.
I am finding it frustrating to change images once they are uploaded. For instance, in my sleep-addled mind, I uploaded the cover to issue 444 into the slot for issue 414. There seems to be no easy way to change this. Do I have to tag the incorrect cover with a "Delete" tag, wait for it to be deleted and then upload the proper one? I realize I could upload the correct image with a different file name and redirect the page to find this new image, but then I am breaking the naming convention which seems most prevalent in the Uncanny X-men files.
Why is there not a button on an image page which says "Change this image?" It would make life so much easier.
- That is an EXCELLENT question. I will see if this is available or "in the works". User:Jamie would be the best person to address this as he is the site admin. I am going to post your question/suggestion on the forums and see if there are any takers. In regards to the one mistake on Issue 414. I have deleted it out, so feel free to rename things as you see fit. The naming conventions is a "work in progress" and trust me...we have gotten to renaming the characters recently and that is becoming a little daunting...the images will be next (at least on my list.) Be sure to check out the forums though and feel free, like I said, to use my page for any immediate requests for quick deletion if you need it. Just be sure to tell me "what" is needing deleting if in error. --M1shawhan 22:59, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

New Mutants/Covers Change
Edit
I personally love what you've done. The Exile's covers page and the comic listing pages are pretty much the same, and I was wondering why we had two around here anyway. DEFINITELY bring it up in the forums, or at least to Jamie! : ) --Peteparker 05:20, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Gambit - Remy LeBeau
Edit
Hey guy, you're doing great with those Comics Listings, but I had a quick question for ya. What was the reasoning for marking Gambit and Remy LeBeau as needing to be merged? --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 19:30, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
See, I knew I was doing it wrong. I changed the Gambit page to take out those irritating "of the" and "from the" in the listings of what universe they are in. Then, I followed some link and discovered that Remy LeBeau has an identical page which needed to have "of the"s removed. I tagged them as Merge since they seem to be identical pages. Of course, I wasn't entirely sure how to do it with the Merge tag; I assume there is a better way for me to have tagged it. I didn't delete anything, but I figure that one should be a redirect to the other. Is that right? Artful Dodger 01:25, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's no problem at all. The reason we have two (Seemingly Identical) disambiguation pages is a little bit interesting. You are probably well aware that there are alternate versions of a lot of characters in parallel universes, ie (Earth-616 versus Earth-295 versions of just about anyone). But in some of these parallel universes, the characters don't use either their Mainstream version's real name or code name. Take Wolverine for instance, in the mainstream reality, Wolverine's real name is James Howlett and his code name is Wolverine. However, in the Age of Apocalypse reality, his real name is still probably James Howlett (it hasn't really been stated there yet), but his code name is Weapon X. So if you looked at the James Howlett page, you should see the Age of Apocalypse version listed under "Others" because he doesn't go by Wolverine. And if you look at the Wolverine page, he's under "Wolverine Related" because he's never called wolverine, but it's the same character. Are we confused yet? Let's try another one. Gambit's real name in the mainstream universe is Remy LeBeau, but in an alternate reality, he was never befriended by the thieves' guild, and never took that real name. Instead, that version of Gambit was only ever called New Son. So he can only fit on the Remy LeBeau Page under "Remy LeBeau Related" and on the Gambit page under "Gambit Related" since he was never originally called either, but is still the same person from an alternate reality. I have more examples we can talk about if it still doesn't make sense, so let me know how I can help. Thanks for noticing that the pages were very close to the same! You're really helping out! : )
- --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 05:00, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- You make a good point. Multiple realities can cause many confusions. It seems, though, that even if a character might have a different given name or code name in other realities, they are still similar enough to the "original" character that they belong on the same disambig page. I can see many examples of what you mentioned, yet it seems that these pages lack consistency. As new information comes out about characters, editors will have to travel to several pages to update each piece of information. Imagine if (and it's not too big of a stretch for Marvel) that in the upcoming final issues of Exiles, they reveal Miguel O'Hara, Spider-man of 2099, to actually be another clone of the original Peter Parker. That means an editor is going to have to change information on the Spider-Man page, the Peter Parker page, and the Miguel O'Hara page. Why not have all of these characters/people/code names on a single disambig page? I agree that there need to be multiple listings to cover all of the variants of a character, but is it really necessary to have so many different pages? If a user is looking for Miguel O'Hara, Peter Parquagh, or Ben Reily, he is really looking for Spider-Man, regardless of what he is called.

New Image Template
Edit
Hey there!
I have just spent some time polishing our new Image Template.
My intention is that it will be applied to every single image on the database, in the same way the Character Template is on all character articles.
It should make categorizing & detailing our image collection much easier, especially for newbies.
The template is here and I have done up a few test images.
I was hoping for your help...
Could you try it out a bit? (It is the 2nd to last button on the edit tools bar.)
Please be harsh... if it sucks, tell me how to improve it! :)
Any and all feedback is appreciated!
Cheers,
--Jamie 06:39, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
To Be Deleted's
Edit
Be sure to try to put a link to the page that is correctly named on the old page that is going to be deleted. It makes things much easier if things still have to be moved or to make sure that the new page was made. Not that I don't trust ya! ;) --M1shawhan 14:43, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure I understand. You mean, when I put the line, "Please delete this image..." I should include link to the new page/image/site?
- On another note, when will the forums be up??!?!?
- Artful Dodger 14:45, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, link to the other page...I have done this on one of the pages so you can see here, or at least something to that effect. As far as the forums...soon, sometime soon. Jamie is getting his new-daddy feet wet and the forums are probably the last thing on his mind right now (and they should be), but trust me he wants them up as quickly as we do and he is working at getting this soon. --M1shawhan 15:33, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- Gotcha. Will do from now on. I figured about the forum and you're right, he has more important things to do now.

Orphaned Images
Edit
Hey! I've noticed you're reforming the comic book covers galleries, and doing a wonderful job I might add. Could you tag with To Be Deleted the images you're replacing. The http://en.marveldatabase.com/index.php?title=Special:Unusedimages&limit=100&offset=100 orphaned images list is getting pretty long. Thanks!
UPDATE: My bad! I've noticed you tagged the images! Sorry!!!
- No problem. I have started tagging the images, but some of my older ones I didn't do. I know the list is getting long...is there anything I can do to make the deletion process easier or faster? Thanks for the umbrella, by the way... :)
- Artful Dodger 14:38, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Hopefully you wont need the umbrella :) Deleting images can be done by an admin. I wanted to ask you to try uploading the highest resolution image you can find, especially for a textless cover. I love having high quality images saved on MDP. Copycat989 17:44, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
UPDATE: I've deleted all the articles and images in this category. :) Copycat989 08:13, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Whoo Hooo!!!! You are my new best friend. Those images have been bugging me forever. Now I can finally update X-Force/Cable Annual '95! Now I can search for the right Bishop images I need! Now I can fill up the list again!!
- Questions and comments...I do try to find the highest quality image I can because I also want this site to be the best it can. If I can't find a good image of a cover, then I will scan it in myself. But I have the hardest time finding high quality Textless covers. I have looked at the sites you recommended to me and I check on Marvel.com, but sometimes the images aren't there or aren't that great (Cable and Deadpool Textless, for example). Which is better to do, post a low quality image, or post no image at all? What do you think?
- I noticed that you uploaded Image:Mystique Vol 1 7 Textless.jpg. However, that is not a textless image, it is just a regular cover. That is an image that I have been unable to find online anywhere. Should we leave it blank in the hopes that someone will upload it?
- The image titled "Image:Mystique_022.jpg" has been properly renamed to "Mystique Vol 1 8 Textless.jpg". However, I did not tag it for deletion because it was linked to from several user pages. However, I notice that those links are gone now. Did you do that? Can I edit another user's page to properly rename an image? I haven't yet because I don't know if they would appreciate it, but I have some other images which are improperly named in user pages. What should I do?
- Thanks again for cleaning out the deleted images. You are wonderful! :)
- Artful Dodger 13:25, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- For the textless covers I think you should post a low quality image (but not unde 300px) then leave it empty. If you can't find it at all you can email marvel or the actual artist credited for the specific cover. I had a good experiance with Billy Tan & Greg Horn. They both sent me the textless cover I requested. Woo Hooo!!
- Sorry about Mystique 7. I thought it was a textless cover.
- If you find an image that needs renaming, when replacing it, see what pages it links too. Go edit those pages replacing the bad named image with the good one ;). So tag Mystique_22.jpg for deletion after removing it from all the pages and linking the new image there.
Comics:Cable
Edit
Hey AD,
I took a loving to the way you had these comics disambigs set up, so I developed a small template that should help your endeavors. It's called Cvd, which stands for Comic Volume Description. I used it on the Comics:Cable page, so you can see what it does. All you have to enter is Whatever the Comic's Title and Volume number, and it will automatically make a link to the Comics:Title Volume Number page, put the running years, and the total amount of titles in the series. It counts the number of articles in the Category:Title Volume Number page, so if any of the articles aren't templated yet, or don't exist they won't be included in the count or running years. I think it's a pretty cool little helper, but if you don't want to use it for reasons like "Soldier X" on the Cable page, I understand. Just wanted to let you know it was out there. --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 21:05, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- This is super way awesome cool! I don't know nearly enough about coding to create something like this and I am very impressed and flattered that you have made it. I have already starting using it on my current work (Comics:Excalibur) and I have some thoughts...
- I notice that if an issue is a one-shot, the template lists the years as 1991-1991. Any way to fix that?
- I have put it in place on the Comics:Excalibur disambig, but the template does not put the volume number on the disambig page (Excalibur Vols 1,2,3 all show up as only "Excalibur").
- I plan on using the template even on titles like Solider X. I don't mind at all that a lack of issues generates a "No Articles" message; it's a motivator to me to write those summaries!
- This template is very cool. I hope that my comments don't sound like criticisms because they are not. I only ask because I don't have the skill to dig into the template code. A thousand thanks to you for making this.

Cvd
Edit
Well, if the comic articles aren't templated using the Comic Template, they won't be automatically put into the Nightcrawler Vol 1 Category, so they don't get counted. The quick way to have the right count is to put the into each comic page, but it won't get you the right starting and finishing years. The best way, (and not the quickest), is to use the Comic Template on each of the pages that haven't been templated yet. : ) --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 18:25, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Cvd
New Template for you!
Edit
Hey there Artie,
I saw you laboring furiously to put the bit of info at the top of your Comics:CharacterName pages, and figured there should be an easier unified way to get done what you're trying to do. I figured that these pages are basically disambig pages, so I made another Disambig template for you to use called ComicDisambig. It's pretty sweet, I think, but I'd like your opinion on it, and also wanted to make you aware that it exists. I used it as an example on Comics:Nightcrawler. So check it out, and let me know what you think. (It's basically almost exactly like the Disambig template, but tailored for comics).
Later gator,
--Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 03:48, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- You are the man! Thanks so much for your help on my efforts. I have not worked with creating templates, so having someone else who sees a need and helps me is greatly appreciated.
- As I glance through the pages I have done, it looks like you have templated them all. Again, thank you. One question I have is that the subsequent volumes of a title, other than volume 1, show up well as Vol 2, Vol 3, etc. But the Vol 1 of any given title only shows up as that name. (Gambit Vol 1 just says "Gambit" while Vols 2-4 say Gambit Vol 2, Gambit Vol 3, etc) Is that intentional?
- Also, I think that the new title for Cable is technically Volume 2, not Vol 3. The title that is usually referred to as Vol 1 is the Cable:Blood and Metal 2-issue series. The 107 issue run from 1993-2002 is the actual, Cable-titled, Volume 1. At least, as far as I can figure it.
- Don't let my petty complaints about your fantastic work in any way cloud the heaps of gratitude I send your way. I truly am grateful for your work and will use it in the future.
- Artful Dodger 03:26, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, that was intentional. I thought it looked better that way. Do you agree? I especially thought it would be better with multiple Volume 1's on the same page, that way you get just the Name, and not a ton of pesky 'Vol 1's after them all.
- As for the Cable thing, it gets tricky with all the name changes going on in the volumes. Based solely on your description, I'd say that Cable:Blood and Metal would be Cable: Blood and Metal Vol 1, not necessarily Cable Vol 1 (even if it is technically the first Cable series ever made). So that's where that thinking came from. :)
- I'm happy you're happy with the changes, and by all means, if you ever have any suggestions or needs, drop me a line!
- --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 06:00, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
'Issue' in the Image template
Edit
Hi Mr. Dodger,
I wanted to let you know that the 'Issue' block in the image template is for putting in the entire issue name volume and number of whatever issue the image came from. There were some ones from back in November that had the issue number filled in instead, so in case you're still doing it that way, I wanted to let you know what the block is for. (I don't think you're doing that way anymore anyway).
Thanks!
--Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 19:09, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Awww, shucks, you don't have to call me "Mister"... :)
- I have filled the "Issue" field in the image template as you suggested and son-of-a-gun it works like a charm. Now help me know, what should go in the "Description" field? A description like "Cover of Excalibur Vol 1 #33" or "Captain Britain choking the life out of Nightcrawler while the girls look on appreciatively"?
- Artful Dodger 03:47, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Honestly, I don't know for sure. The template description says: "BRIEF DESCRIPTION / SUMMARY OF IMAGE" which is, basically, not very descriptive. So if you feel like putting something in there, I'd say you can put whatever you want. I've been leaving them blank. :)
- --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 06:00, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Marvel Graphic Novel 4
Edit
The reason Cvd doesn't work for this one, is because it's set up for an entire volume of comics instead of an individual one. I was thinking about making one for individual Comics, but hadn't yet. It'd probably be best to manually make the description like you used to for that one. (At least for now).
--Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 06:00, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Shall do. Thanks as always.

Advanced Search
Edit
Did you try only clicking the 'Image' box on the advanced search? I unclicked all the rest of the boxes, and searched for Spider-Man ok. Did you already try this? I don't know where that other box went, might be due to wikia upgrades. . . --Nathan Elliott (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 22:26, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
- That is very strange. Dunno what to tell ya. Maybe file a bug?
- As for Jamie, I've seen him make an edit or two and contribute to the forums a bit here and there, but I'm not sure how he's really spending his time these days. I know he's got that brand new ankle biter to keep him busy, and he was talking about making both a Dark Horse and an Image database that would be connected to Marvel and DC. Those two could easily take up all his time, but there's no telling. I'd think that the more you take time off from these projects, the harder it is to get back into it. (Then again, I've never taken enough time off to know that to be true).
- Sorry I couldn't be more help, you might try The Help Wiki, they might know a better way to search or where your handy little box went. Let me know if you figure it out. :)

Hey Artie!
Happy to hear you're joining the Bot group! Pretty cool that you got so far using the old school bot without any problems. The next step would be to contact Jamie via talk message or email, and tell him where you're at. He has to send you a family file for the MDB (so the bot will work), and he has to tag your User, Artful Bot, as a robot. Were you inspired by Wall-E? :)
While you're waiting, you might want to try an easier bot that M1shawhan is currently loving. The link is here. It's a lot easier to use in general, unless you're pretty good with command line statements or writing python.
--Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 17:07, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Which bot/program would you recommend? I feel comfortable working with command line stuff. Is there a benefit to either one? So far I am only envisioning minor edits until I feel more comfortable.
- Do you mind if I keep bugging you throughout my learning curve? Feel free to foist me off on someone else if you like...
- Artful Dodger 02:41, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- They both accomplish the same thing. However the link that he sent you and the one that I am now using is a GUI (Windows) type of interface. The command line one is just as good and utilizes more of a DOS command prompt feel (better if your a Linux user and such). The thing I like about the GUI one is that it gives you defaults. They come in handy and you can setup various auto-scripts. The bad part is that it is really for Wikipedia and the page-links don't always work. I found a "work-around" by using DPL queries on a page I made (Here...) and then use that page to show all the links that it creates and then run the bot on those...Hard to explain without you seeing it, but let me know if you want to use it and have any trouble. Pete's much better at the command-prompt coding than I am. --M1shawhan 04:21, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- It's embarrassing that I have to ask all these questions since I am trying to demonstrate my skill...
- The AWB keeps logging in to Wikipedia. How do I change that? Don't I still need approval from Jamie or someone to register my bot? The old bot on Nathan's page said I needed a file download from Jamie. Is that the same thing as registering?
- Artful Dodger 13:08, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- No. The file download will be an actual file you save that the Artful Bot will use when you load your bot. The bot will still have to be "registered" by Jamie on the database backend. You won't know he's done it till he tells you or you try to log your bot in and it gives you "bot" status -- Actually I take that back. There is a page somewhere that will tell you. Let me look around and see if I can find it and what it says about "Artful Bot". --M1shawhan 23:05, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Also, if you think it would be easier to "show" you via IM, let me know. I have to install my chats I had anyway since I reformatted things on my computer. Let me know if you use anything chat-wise and I'll see if I can load it up and show you rather than tell you how to do this bot thing. --M1shawhan 23:22, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- I have put your hotmail on my Windows Messenger. I would appreciate you stepping me through the necessary steps. I'll keep checking to see when you are online.

cleanup AWB?
Edit
Not too sure on this one...The NICE thing is that if you do choose the auto-save option you can turn up the time limit on the "save" action...as long as you hit stop on the start tab. This will still allow you to edit it the way you want and when you hit save it will begin the auto-save again...Try changing the "edit summary text" from cleanup to your own also. I never use the default "cleanup" it gives you. --M1shawhan 22:46, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- BTW, I don't see the AWB in the edit summary now?!?! Are you STILL having trouble with it or are you using the auto-save? Also good job on the DPL...lot easier than you thought, huh? --M1shawhan 22:48, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Cast
Edit
As of this moment...no, there is not a fix. If you can think of one, that would be VERY helpful. I am starting to think that it will be a DPL fix, like we originally thought. However, I am going to try "something". The ONLY problem is that if the character used in the Appearances section is not up-to-date with the latest character name, then we will be back to square one. This is the largest concern. Otherwise, we can just turn on the "if the link in character appearances exists then put category for cast appearance" code. ;) If you want to give it a whirl though, please do. LOL --M1shawhan 00:59, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
HMMMM...you just gave me an idea. --M1shawhan 01:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Happy to help. Now, if only I knew what you were talking about....This is the problem with talking on pages and in the forum at the same time.
Artful Dodger 01:02, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry for being late in response, but the Cast Template will auto-cat every link in the appearances section, not just the characters, but the vehicles, items, locations, etc. As long as it's a link, it'll be a category. :)

Cast Template
Edit
You can test it here, it's installed, just not in the comic template yet. :)
So again, the usage is:

RE: naming conventions
Edit
lol. It must be like trying to herd cats. I've seen a hellva lot file names for cover jpgs that I would never have thought of to use just trying to complete a few of the cover gallerys here.
Forge
Edit
What up, Artie?!?
I noticed you re-moved Forge to Jonathan Silvercloud. Check out the talk page, and weigh in on why it should be J.S. It's been something of an issue in the past, so much like Deadpool back in the day, we're leaving him as his code name until we have an absolute reference for his real name. Maybe you know where it says that's his birth name? I'm gonna try to check the OHOTMU's now. :)
--Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 00:02, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, looks like in OHOTMU #4 (2006), Forge's real name is "Unrevealed". I'll update his page. :)
- --Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 00:38, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- See, this is what happens when I use the AutoWikiBrowser. I knew I was going to make some mistakes. I was fixing things somewhere else and just decided to run a quit edit. I have read the talk section and it makes sense to me. I can change them back if you haven't. Mea culpa... :(
- Artful Dodger 01:06, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- No problem man. Not a big deal. I needed to try and look up his real name anyway, and it gave me an excuse to flip through the OHOTMU's. :)
- FYI, I replied to you on the forums, so there's some test pages you can play with for the new appearances setup. ;)
- --Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 20:46, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- I saw them. I will give it a try on Young X-Men. Thanks a zillion.

Last Appearances
Edit
Looks deleted to me. . . What are you seeing? :)
--Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 18:50, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- The problem is that it is staying in the Special pages...I saw this once and thought it was a cache problem on the server as the page had been deleted. Now I think it is either a glitch or the fact that it was a delete from the old merge site we brought over and it "can't" be deleted since it is tagged with the old users on the site. I think the best bet would be to redirect it somewhere, but I haven't thought of a good place yet. If you can think of one, I would try that and see if it clears it off the special pages. --M1shawhan 18:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, but I'm logging out for the day. I do need to sleep sometime, and I'm not cloned. ;) Darkseid01 03:30, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the comment and advice. ^^ Issue #01 is actually one I'm missing, so that's one I'll have to pursue! So far I've got #08, #11-#20, #22-#23 and that's all in the "What The-?!" collection. :D Forbush-man's my favourite hero, and his comics are old enough to be my grandfather. XD I wish they'd bring him back.
Okay. ^^ Thanks for the tips! Flammingcorn 13:44, 9 September 2008 (UTC)flammingcorn
DPL $@%!@
Edit
Which page are you looking at, let me try to see what I get from it. --M1shawhan 02:25, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Found it...let me know if you are still having this trouble. --M1shawhan 03:09, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I have tried changing my DPL page to several different things; the AWB only picks up 10 of those links. I feel like I have clicked some button in AWB which says "Only get 10 links" but I cannot figure out where it is. Or why I would do that. Or why anyone would do that...
Artful Dodger 11:40, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Odd, I got the same thing. It looks to only be getting actual article links and not Images and other subpage pages (like Quotes and such). You can save a copy of the list (copy and paste) in notepad and then remove the space and the *'s before the pagenames and then choose "Text File" instead of links from page in the AWB and it will show it to you. That is odd though. --M1shawhan 22:59, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I can do that, but it sucks...What happened all of a sudden? Are you telling me that this is happening to you, too, or are you just checking my page?
Artful Dodger 00:19, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yea Dudes, FYI, I talked to an AWB developer today, and he said that 1.13.1 screwed up their code. I'm sure they'll come out with a patch or an upgrade sometime, but I'm not sure when. On the upside, we can still use it if we manually copy/paste lists of pages to work on, so it's not 100% completely broke. The Python bot isn't workin all that great either. There's needs for patches all over the place!

re: Sentinel V2
Edit
Thanks for finishing Sentinel V2. Where did you find a cover for 3? I checked both comics.org and milehigh and neither site had a cover for it. I was beginning to wonder if the issue had been published. Darkseid01 01:58, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
RE: naming conventions
Edit
Isn't it possible to just have a bot rename those files? The reason I removed the spaces was because I like to see the covers when I click on a series title so I've been setting the gallery flag on everything I've worked on, except the really big articles which have a problem accepting changes to them (the page is not refreshed, I just get a blank screen with the word 'Done' in the lower left corner and the server discards my changes). It has been a royal pain in the ass putting together galleries with all the different naming conventions in use on the site and I was particularly getting sick of someone using the same naming convention with the only difference being whether there were spaces or underscores, and since when you upload an image underscores are automatically inserted for spaces, I ran everything together in the file name. In any event, I'm almost done with the covers I want to upload here. I've been going through the Images Needed and I'm already on S. I know there's a lot more covers missing, but I have little interest in that material. Thanks for the tip about comicbookdb. I actually have been there, I just didn't know it was such a great source for covers. I visited briefly when looking for synopsis info. I've found this site to be the best site on the internet for synopsis info that I'm currently aware of. Thanks for the donut. :) Darkseid01 13:16, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Comics:Wolverine The End Vol 1
Edit
How come this is blank? Should it be a redirect, or is it something you're still workin on?
— Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 14:18, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- That piece of trash...Mainly I haven't taken the time to make sure all of "The End" comics have the right naming conventions. One colon, two colons, dashes, spaces, etc. It is a royal pain with several places of duplication that I haven't tracked down yet. Here is the best I can find for the Wolverine stuff. The X-Men stuff is a headache. I have made a comics disambig for "The End" comics. I don't even really like them that much...take a crack at it.
- Artful Dodger 04:25, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- I agree, colons make huge pains in asses. And we can't even use them in image names! The disambig page looks great so far though. I think I need to redesign the cvd template so it's not such a page drag. That think can't go on long pages, and screws up if there's too many uses on one page. In other words, it's a p.o.s. ;) Throw it up on the pile. . .
- — Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 04:55, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I almost forgot, awesome job on all those Reality Characters categories. Do you like it that way better? I think it makes sense, though the base reality categories don't have much in them anymore. . .
- — Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 04:57, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, yes it does help to have the character categorized that way. To make it more useful, can we put a "Reality Characters" link on each realities' page? Then, people could jump to the list and scan for their favorite characters.
- As for "The End", it is low on my list. The CVD template is awesome and I know that you can make it even better.
- Artful Dodger 15:56, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Cyclops (Scott Summers)
Edit
Hey Artie,
I restored that redirect because I use it as a backdoor into the main character's page sometimes. Just thought I'd let you know. Plus, there's some really cool history in that pagename's history section. Dating back to when Jamie first made the page, and put a character stub in it! :)

New Mutants
Edit
Ugh...I mean, good luck! ;) The nice thing with the move function is that it will redirect AND tell you if the page you are moving to is created and allow you to delete it first OR allow you to open it separately and change the info around instead. Makes the "move" function very useful. FYI - I am thinking of moving back up towards the Arlington area...know of any good jobs up there? --M1shawhan 21:32, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Do I just tag the page with a Move tag and wait? Is is a bot change? I'm not sure I now how to use it exactly...
- What kind of job are you looking for? Job or career? What are your qualifications, man? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Artful Dodger 21:41, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, tag the page with the Move tag and it will be picked up automatically by Nate's bot, changing out the linked to pages as it goes. It's actually pretty neat. As far as the job situation. I don't know where I see myself in 5 years...sort of the reason for the move, I have friends/family there and I was the black sheep that moved away from them all for a change of atmosphere...Now I am reconsidering. Just throwing out some of the future options. ;) --M1shawhan 22:41, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'll keep my ear to the ground, but seriously, what kind of work are you looking for? What are your qualifications?

- I'll keep my ear to the ground, but seriously, what kind of work are you looking for? What are your qualifications?
- Currently, I am in the telecommunication business with proficiency in telephone. However, I have had technical qualifications covering phone/internet/cable in the past. Anything in the business (minus marketing and HR), I have done...not kidding. Pretty broad qualifications, I know. --M1shawhan 04:16, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Randoms...
Edit
1) Not sure...trying out AWB now to see how the new stuff works and if it does, I will respond on here.
2) strike-through can be used by highlighting text and putting <s> & </s> on it.
3) I am making pages that need to have (Earth-designations) and pages that need to have fixes to the character appearances. Fix appearances page is here and those needing designations is here. Any help would be appreciated as always. Bots might be more helpful...but as you get to it, re-save the pages so they update. ;)
4) Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!!! I am attempting to cook this year so any happiness is welcome! ;) --M1shawhan 21:58, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Tell me you are using your bot now...pleaso, pleaso, pleaso, PLEASE! That or you are trucking right along with all the edits. ;) Think you can beat my record, eh? --M1shawhan 18:24, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Worried? Afraid? Shaking in your boots? Think I'm about to replace you as master of edits?!? MWAH HA HA HA AH
- I finally got AWB working again. It rocks! Actually, I am using your DPL pages to find what to edit, so thanks for that. Of course, this AWB version can pull whole categories, so I don't have to get the links from DPL pages.
- I was feeling a little guilty about swamping the pages with my edits, but not much is happening on the site right now. Christmas time, I guess....Anyway, back to massive edits!

However, I am willing to do whatever the hell I have to these days to bring life to my bot! LOL...I am visiting relatives in DFW area for the rest of the week, but when I return home, I will hopefully be able to upgrade and join you on the battlefield. ;) --M1shawhan 21:53, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- The latest version is 4420. I just uninstalled and reinstalled. The painful part was that I had saved many .xml files with the renaming rules I wanted, but I had to recreate them all. I could never find the reason why the old .xml files didn't work with the new version. Anyway, that's how I have been spending my holidays here in Waco.

About to leave...you on IM?
Edit
See above? :( --M1shawhan 00:56, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- I am now...Leaving?
- Artful Dodger 01:18, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I had left by the time you got on apparently. I figured out a little bit about the regular expressions, here. As far as the code itself, I used a mish-mash of code that had a bunch of...well, junk in it...that's why I was gonna just shoot it over quick on IM. Looks like my bot last night (through today) and Peteparkerbot took care of the entire Cast issue. Let me know if you still want the mish-mash code though for any of your own twisted bot machinations. ;)
- I think we can now pull out some of the background code out of the comic template altogether now and this "may" load those pages a little faster now since the template will not look for that section at that point. Anywho, now I can move on to other things! Woohoo! --M1shawhan 02:20, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link. It looks very useful. Yes, I would still like to see the code. It helps to have an actual example of working code. I do still have some sinister machinations to work on.

Image Ease
Edit
Ok...so I started helping tag some of those images...WHEW! What a task that one will be...anyhow, I made a few changes to the template (to make things easier) and thought I would share them. You can pretty much put in ANYTHING for License and Image Type and it will know what you are thinking wanting...for example, if you want the License to be "Comic Cover", you can put in CC, cc, Cover, Comic Cover, and I think I even put in "Cov" (shows my laziness sometimes.) I was going off what Peteparker started on there and added a few more lazy tags to it. Also added a Misc tag for those random images from the web that are probably MEANT to be on a character page as random images, but have no Marvel relevance and are not specifically a picture of a user. Check out the template under (switches) though and let me know if there are any that need to be added...the lazier and the less to type, the better I say! ;) --M1shawhan 03:56, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- I noticed your changes and I edited the template to include the word "Miscellaneous" in the acceptable terms field, or sample terms, or whatever area it is...you know, the one where people can see what they are supposed to type. It was also my first time to really see the code behind a template. Way scary! I don't know how you guys do it...
- If I type CC for Comic Cover, will the template replace that "cc" with the words "Comic Cover" or will it just stay "CC"? Is that going to confuse newbies when they look at the tagging of the images?
- Also, still waiting on the code for moving pages and regexp (is that right?) that you used to pull out the Cast1 sections. *sniff* Arty wants code... :(
- Artful Dodger 04:10, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- LOL!!! Hadn't forgotten bout ya...just about the code ;) If you want, I'll show you on IM real fast. Yeah, the code is pretty scary, but it will show "Comic Cover", but in the template editing it will still show "CC" (what you type)...confusing yes, but much less painful to ype a million times exactly. ;) --M1shawhan 04:22, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Trouble with your magic code
Edit
That's actually funny...I forgot to mention the "Spider-Man's Web-Shooters" rule that I had to add. I thought I mentioned it when I couldn't figure out the reason for the [']. Oh well....uhhh, yeah, you're the only one that will understand this, but I had to add the code: "[\n]'s Web-Shooters" (without the "'s) for the find and a blank field for the replace. Has to be AFTER (below) the cast/location/vehicle/item rules so that it is read properly though. See...it IS "magic" ;) --M1shawhan 03:54, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- PS - did you see the Punisher page with the month, year? Nate fixed the code and it was pretty lagging due to the DPL overload....was pretty cool though and did what you were asking for (at least I think it was you) ;) If you didn't see, it let me know and I will add it back since it is a server hog and slows the page to a crawl.....BUT WORKS!!! :) --M1shawhan 04:02, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- LOL!!! I suggest you check out the recent changes page to see JUST how cool my bot and code really are, good sir!!! As for the subst:, I was trying to learn more about this and kinda segued into looking into it for the image and thought it couldn't work for the comic pages....PLEASE tell me you know how to use the subst function since I feel like an idiot with it. Adding Earth-616 to Various Pages
Edit
I love that someone's finally doing this (I've been trying to redo all of the old pages I've done, but it's such a slow process. And, well, it's currently hung up over my own temporary disinterest in it), HOWEVER...you recently did it to Guardians of the Galaxy. Problem is that all but maybe a dozen of those were actually the Earth-691's Guardians. So now, in the appearances for the Earth-616 team...it appears as if they've been around for decades longer than they actually have, and have made, easily, 30+ more appearances than they have (as as, they've only appeared in their own title, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, and She-Hulk: Cosmic Collision). I know you use AWB, and that makes it a lot less time consuming than my manual style (I've GOT to get around to working with AWB). --GrnMarvl14 18:50, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- YIKES! I knew I should be more careful with my mad botting. I am sorry that I misedited those pages. I have gone back and fixed them to the best of my knowledge. Of course, my knowledge might not be worth much since I didn't even know there were two Guardians of the Galaxy teams.
- Thanks for pointing it out to me. Sorry again...

The Vandals
Edit
Sorry about that. That was a cool Vandal too. Especially since he even messed with your user page. I thought about leaving that one for you at least. We get so few vandals around here, really, it's actually pretty fun when one shows up. Next one I see is all yours. :)

Edit
Yea, as it is printed in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Vol 2, his name is still unknown. Go figure. I put the reference on the page this morning.
The only ways I could think to fix Marvel Saga #3, were to move the 'Material Excerpted From:' part to Notes, or, add the field 'AppearingCategories = No", which will prevent everything in the appearing section from being categorized.

did a quick run online: try http://www.newkadia.com/?Comics=1047 and http://cgi.ebay.com.my/DAZZLER-5_W0QQitemZ320208344502QQihZ011QQcategoryZ35765QQcmdZViewItem
but i do have a totalöly different question; rereading the Longshot MS, i stumbled across the fact that the original, untransformed Rita Ricochet was listed everywhere as Agent (Mojoworld), which bugged me to no end. after all, Rita IS Spiral, right(?), and therefore from Earth-616 (which is, in fact, the universe given for spiral). when i checked the marvel database, however, it said that Spiral was Rita from "an alternate timeline", meaning that there would have to be a different universe number. any ideas?--Edkaufman 11:01, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Fake X-Men
Edit
Thanks for asking. Those guys are from Uncanny 262 and 263; they're Morlocks altered by Masque to look like the X-Men. Bliss was one of them, too: she was Jean until the fake Storm died, at which point Bliss became Storm and the tentacled one became Jean. Rodtheanimegod4ever 21:43, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

You Like?
Edit
So you like the ! parts? It's funny, because I did it once for the Exiles Team, because I wanted to link to them without writing out Panoptichron or whatever earth thing they had at the time. It's a quick solution that makes a lot of sense. I did the 1500 most popular characters, but didn't know if we should go further than that. What do you think?
— Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 04:57, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh yea, I forgot, I don't know where we'd put the 'Try adding !' deal. We could probably replace the 'Search Marvel Database' text with it, but I don't know if that'd be confusing. We could also put up a site message for awhile about it, what do you think?
- — Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 04:59, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think the site message is basically the same thing as the Wikia announcement, only on a local level. I'll throw one up for a week and see what happens. :)

All of Texas...
Edit
Dear Artful One, Have seen you editing on the broad horizon. Great Work btw. I am having a problem with "Texas". When I enter it as Texas. i.e. a location, it comes back as red Texas (Earth-616) or something like that. I saw you made an edit on "Texas" back in December. Any ideas on what could be going wrong for me??
- Not sure what page you are wanting to add Texas to, but I did a few things. First of all, if you want the state of Texas, it's "Texas (State)", so you don't get the character from the Punisher comics. The states vary wildly in their page names. Sometimes they have the "(State)" after them, like Texas and Montana. Sometimes the word State is a part of their name, like New York State. Sometimes it just says "California". If you're looking for a project.... :)
- I did just create the appearances, gallery, and image page for Texas (State), so some of those red links you see might have disappeared. See if it has helped. If not, let me know.
- Thanks for the compliment also. Words of praise keep me going :)

- I am glad I finally figured out why we were getting such weird vehicle gallery pages.
- Artful Dodger 14:28, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- That's the funny part - I knew absolutely nothing about code when I first started on here...did a lot of copy and paste and read up on what I was seeing (you start to learn some of the lingo and it makes things easier.) For the most part though, when you think about it, you're copy/pasting other people's ideas ANYHOW and just putting a little bit of a twist on it occasionally. ;) --M1shawhan 14:34, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Bad Bot!
Edit
Yea, I was having the bot go through and add the creators automatically if the First field was filled in. When the first field has something that doesn't auto-link, like (Shadow) Black Panther 1 (1988), the Fetch template that the bot is using breaks when stuff it doesn't recognize comes in. Hence the problem. I stopped running that bot yesterday, so I'll check through the other pages it went through to look for the same error.
Thanks!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Edit
Not that it's a huge deal, but was just wondering why the changes from the comic title "X-Men Origin: Wolverine" to "X-Men Origin Wolverine"? I checked out the index for it and it has the colon in it. Just was wondering if this was for easier searches on the comic title or something else. --M1shawhan 22:04, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- I change it on a whim because I have the power!!! Mwah ha ha ha!!!
- Colons always bug me. Image file names can't have them and I am always irritated when comic titles do. Didn't mean to step on your toes, of course. I was just maintaining consistency among those titles.
- Yes, the index does list it with a colon so I suppose it should have a colon, but it doesn't list one on the cover and I don't see the need for one. Am I stepping beyond my authority to drop the colon? I truly am asking because I do want it to be right...mumble, mumble, ...hates colons...mumble grumble...
- Artful Dodger 22:25, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- LOL!!! That's what I assumed, I think we are trying to stick to the indices as much as possible per the naming convention. I do understand ya though...I actually felt the same way and then I noticed many comics that had completely different titles (Mighty Thor and others) and included colons, slashes and hyphens...GRRRR...since then I have found myself almost OCD with having to change them to match (although I get the volumes wrong...as you have seen in previous posts.) :(
- Also, redirects aren't "BAD" and those pages don't need to be deleted out. It makes it possible to search off those terms for newbies. I'd leave em if you can so that OCD'ers like me can at least look for the pages if they get moved and stuff. ;)
- AWB -- I was always afraid to use that option to delete in there...unsure how it would react. Are you saying that when you use it it still forces you to manually delete here? --M1shawhan 23:00, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Lastly -- just remember that 'Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' LOL! --M1shawhan 23:00, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Fine. I'll stick with the indices...mumble grumble... But redirects....they are BAD!!
- I spend a lot of time on this page to make sure everything is properly named throughout the site. The problem is that about 85% of these links are actually unused redirects. It is a pain to click one, see what links to it, discover that it is empty, back up, and delete the page. I want a way to do that more efficiently and if the site were stripped of unused redirects, it would make that job easier. Plus, wouldn't having those pages be gone make the site run better/take up less space/be more efficient?
- As for AWB, you have to make a list by some criteria and then have AWB bring up one of those pages based on some criteria (finding text, for example), then the delete button becomes active. If you click it, it asks you for a reason, you click OK and the screen jumps to the Marvel Database window and it will delete the page for you. It is faster than going to each page individually, but it is still clumsy.
- I want a button that says "Delete Unused Redirects"....
- Now, I'm off to Walgreen's to get some more Johnson's All-Natural Power-Corrupter Elixir...

Redirects
Edit
Overall, they suck, waste space, take extra steps to make and then force you to keep up with them. I don't like them either. They are however, useful:
- One reason is just like we were talking about above. If I see something one way (Comics:X-Men Origins: Wolverine Vol 1 1) and you see something another way even based off a cover, we both need to get to the same spot. As trivial as it is, we should have a redirect because there is a question mark that should lead to the same spot. I remember seeing some sites having "Phoenix I" and thinking to myself...WHO IS THAT?!?!? and if we had a redirect to Jean Grey or the Phoenix Force, I would know.
- It also makes it searchable in the search box since it is an actual filled in page on the site (it won't show in the suggestion-box, but it will take you to the correct page when searched, making it easy for newbies.
- The space it takes up is minuscule since it is just a tiny text page with a single link. To get someone to the correct page with such a small server use is worth it in the long run.
- Double redirects are now cleared up (by Wikia and bots), so that's not a big deal anymore.
- ListRedirects page IS a problem and I am not too sure why/how those pages are like that. They almost look like mistypes or errors while moving. A lot of them are Nate's and just by THAT, I think that it is a bot mistake. I think a lot of those would be saved by having him "see th problems and correct them" in the bot. Hell, he might even get a bot to fix them someday. ;)
- If they are "mistakes" being put in that is forcing them to be unused, then I personally have no problem deleting them. There is no "Prfessr X" and if people misspell the characters/comics, then they should get a red link telling them (are you SURE and there is no page like that here). Plus misspellings leading to redirects can be confusing. If there was a redirect for "Prfessr X" and I saw that on a page, I would think that there really IS a "Prfessr X". That's bad...and misinforming.
- Bringing up the last point. If there is a red-link, it leaves the door open for a new page to be made. One that you and I shouldn't have to monitor to see if that exact same page is on the site and move it's info over if it is. The easier way would be to create a redirect and if I was to input that other info, there would at least be a link to the right page already, saving us time and trouble in the future.
LOL!!! You actually made me think for some of those. I agree with you though, we should not have to redirect all pages. The nice thing is that we have the Link Suggestion thing working for us on getting correct pages to begin with (if newbies use it). We also have a Wikia bot that goes through and clears out the double redirects behind us...amazing that they don't have similar stuff for some of those other "task" pages. Even for the searches, we have redirects like "Professor X!" that goes to the 616 version for people. If we didn't have random redirects like that it would be more difficult to use the site as a regular or even a new user. All in all, they are just more helpful to the site. Granted, there are some that are UNNEEDED, and they should be deleted. This is why there IS the listredirect page. It is to say "Hey, there are redirects that may not be going to the right place...delete or correct." If we delete them all and there are other pages linking TO that page, then it will just show up on the Wanted Pages special page since there would be multiple links "looking for that page"...WHEW!! Sorry for being a long report but I'll stop...and I'm spent. ;) --M1shawhan 16:41, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: different worlds
Edit
It's funny. Every time I come over here and do anything, people are nice to me. Whenever I do anything at the DC site, all I hear are gripes. It's like night and day. I find it so strange because the two publishers don't feel all that different to me because so many of the same creative people have worked for both of them. I don't have much interest in the DC characters, but I've sunk alot of time into their site because I felt bad that they were so underrepresented compared to Marvel when I started posting over there. I think it looks much better now. I certainly appreciate it when I come over here and receive positive comments for all the hours of data entry I've sunk into the wikias for free. :)

Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers
Edit
Hi! Regarding your comment, I would think that it takes place in another reality; Black Bolt and Medusa are in outer space, another galaxy in War of Kings, and the invasion held them up before that. The Silent War also caused rifts, so even if it takes place in this reality (which I now personally doubt) it has to have taken place before Silent War and after the Illuminati found the Gems. From the preview, from Black Bolt's lack of direct interest and reaction to Reed's request, I would think that since they were of the Illuminati, no it is not in the main reality. Besides, the Illuminati got the Gems together already. That, and the All Ages rating implies it indeed takes place in a parallel reality. But that's just my personal input, nothing more. By the way, what do think of it. I think it is slightly unusual for Marvel, but I also think it's a pretty interesting twist to Marvel. Thanks! (P.S. Sorry about the rift between me and Max; I sure hope things are calmer now, but I truly do regret everything) Ralnon 22:13, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

— Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 16:18, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- WOW!!! That's so beautiful!
- It's amazing what a few pictures with different colored flames will do for ya. :)
- Yea, the underlying template (Portal), only takes up to 8 slots, so in order to expand a section, you have to repeat the entire Portal part again without a header. You didn't break anything, so don't worry.
- I fixed the Related Header to include the pagename, so when you use it on 'Phoenix', it'll say 'Phoenix Related', even though it says 'Artful Dodger/Large Character Icons Related' on your page now. ;)
- Anytime the Image name is the same as the page you're linking to, you don't have to supply the image. "Jean Grey (Earth-311)" is a good example. And since you're an administrator, you could move any of the images that aren't the same as the pagename to make them the same so you don't have to supply them. It's one extra step per differently-named image, but I like the result, personally. :)
- You're right, Template:Tnv was where we were storing the earth numbers for the old disambig system. The new system can't have links in the name of the reality, so I had to make a new template, to solve the problem. To lessen the confusion, I merged both into one template, so we have one spot to modify for all # to Name conversions: Template:Number to Name. Use that from now on, and I worked it so that the links don't matter. Keep in mind that if a link with a pipe "(|)" is in the name, everything to the right of the pipe will be kept.
- Really excellent job, man. :) Check out the minor changes I made.

Iron Man
Edit
Yea, thanks for the heads up. I was worried about adding more to the template, which is why I didn't try tackling the big ones like Iron Man. It's upgraded to 40, so we should be all set.
You're doing such amazing work with these things! They look great!
— Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 14:49, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- I went through and fixed Hulk and Psylocke. I couldn't find any persistent problems with Iron Man. Just as a heads up, I left the Comics off of the disambiguation template because the cvd template uses a lot of server load. When I commented out that section on Hulk, things worked much better. There's still a link to the comics page right under the description, and having it on a separate page means you can go nuts there.
- The Hulk 776 image was weird. No matter what I tried, it wouldn't show up until I uploaded the image again. It must've been something with whichever server the original image was on. Very strange. :)
- Great job!
- — Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 17:49, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- I knew there was a bit I forgot. I'm not sure why, but the specific instance of #; Image.jpg was causing funky output. I went in and rewrote the results for that situation and everything is better now. It was in a piece of the Disambiguation Template Called 'Template:Text', if you want to look at the changes I ended up making. Weird that we hadn't seen it before that.
- — Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 00:33, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- You sure are doing great finding the bugs in this system. :) It should be all better now. In the case of Iceman, when the main character's name that you want to show up is the same as the pagename, you can leave out the second half of the link (which is how I fixed that one). There was still a tiny bug in the specific situation you described on your own page, and I fixed the text template to fix it. Don't worry too much about trying to decipher that one, it's really tough. The only way I can get through it is using a text editor that can show me which opening brackets go with which closing ones. Otherwise, it would take me probably 100x as long to write those things. :)

A dude named Steve on "Hoarders" described himself as an "Artful Dodger", so I immediately thought of you. Hopefully, you're not Steve, who is trapped in his stuff. You'd probably be doing all your edits from the library, which makes me think you aren't Steve. :)
— Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 18:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sweet! I mean, wait a minute! He's stealing my identity...which I stole from Dickens...ah well. Never heard of the show. Is it worth checking out? Staying in the library wouldn't be all bad, I guess.
- Hey, a while back I asked you about the possibility of adding a "Family" header to the character disambig template. Any thoughts? Say yes or I will bury you under a pile of my stuff.
- Artful Dodger 02:29, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, I kinda put off some of my talk page messages, and am just now getting back to them. I've been kind of surprised at how big the Disambigation template has had to get already, and am a little afraid of trying to add even more complexity to it. It seems like big ones like Beast and Cyclops take a long time to save and edit. So while I completely understand your logic and see how family works in there, I wouldn't want to add another section without taking an existing one out. To be honest, we've never really outlined what the 'Other' and 'Related' sections in the Disambig pages actually were supposed to be, but I always took Other to mean Other people besides the main character who use the alias of that page, (like other Angels), and took Related to mean other versions of the main character who weren't actually ever called the main alias. We use 'Alternate' now, which kind of takes the place of what I used to think related was for, so it's probably a good thing for us all to actually discuss. Which sections we need, and what goes where. We could put the results of the discussion on the Template:Disambiguation page so that everyone who looks at the template knows what goes where. But for the moment, it's pretty much up to you how you use it. Keep in mind there are four additional sections (New Header) which are unnamed and you could name them whatever you want. :)

Master Plan
Edit
MWHAAHA! Nah, nothing big. I had been trying to completely get all the possible pages templated that could be. I first went through and found all the characters, then items, and finally thought why not use DPL to my advantage. :) After doing this and tweaking some of the other things, I was left with these pages. Sad thing is that the changes I made to some of the pages would not remove them from the list without them being "saved" that way. Rather than manually do this for thousands of pages, I thought I'd let my bot make a small "change" and save them for me. :) --M1shawhan 00:53, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia
Edit
Really? Look, why are you all so pissed at me? I thought one edit here wouldn't matter freaking much to most Marvel fans. I repeat, no matter what this community has decided, it is but one of many hundreds of thousands of wikis, and must nonetheless follow standard Wikia rules. I can use the information from Wikipedia, because I am allowed to do so through the policy. I am somewhat disgusted at this level of reaction. You wish to bring this to Central Wikia? Be my guest. But I would personally not do so for such minor issues. As I said, sysops are not supposed to be treated any differently than normal users, and it frankly offends me when they are. Personally, I don't know how someone who is a stranger to me could have known so quickly about my edit to a largely inactive article in the first place. Obviously Peteparker is defending him because he knows and likes him far better than he does me. But to have so many sysops getting heated up over this, to find it necessary to speak for him, is to me a pretty bad indication of a Wikia community. As I said, I have found much better things to do than work here, which is why I no longer contribute, and I am very pleased at how my own life has turned out. By the way, it has nothing to do with Wikipedia policy, but Wikia policy. But as per the policy, if you decided to take action against me, it would be violating Wikia rules, regardless of how many administrators here chose to oppose Wikipedia. The Reason why the image of the page preview in Secret Invasion #2 is because it's from Marvel.com And they will soon think that we are stealing the image from them.

We seem to be in an eternal struggle. You pass me, then I pass you, then you pass me, then I pass you. Of course, I've usually passed you AFTER a massive bout of editing. Now? I'm right in the middle of one. As you'll see...you have no hope of passing me ever again. Ahahahahaha!!! --GrnMarvl14 16:24, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
- You might actually pass me...briefly. But I'm finishing up a semester in school and sitting on a VERY big stack of comics, Power Grids, covers we don't have (mostly Ultraverse stuff), character images, and assorted other things. Feel free to try and catch up. But don't bet any money on it actually happening.

Bot!
Edit
Wow, that was actually tough to find!
I'm assuming you use the AWB bot. Under 'Options' on the file menu (at the top), there's a setting 'Apply changes automatically'. That needs to be unchecked. Then make sure there isn't anything filled in on the skip tab, the Disambig tab is disabled, nothing is enabled on the More tab, and nothing checked on the 'Options' tab.
It should save the pages even if there are no changes when you have Auto save checked on the Bots tab. (I was able to get it to work).
Hope that works for you! :)

- You could always delete it and reinstall the newest version. I had the same problem a couple days ago and ended up doing this.

was there a point to erasing the Title, Volume, and Issue on the Captain Britain comics? are the comics not suppossed to have those or something if they don't have an image? --Johnnybravo44 21:46, March 18, 2010 (UTC)

hmm.. wonder where you got the idea to update on those gene nation pages? hahah jk ;) --Johnnybravo44 01:54, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

- hey artful dodger, just letting you know that when i was editing the Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 page,
- i noticed some of the comics did not have the correct image name (i.e. Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 377.jpg).
- i was wondering, (since im not an admin and cant move the images), if you could fix it up,
- i believe theres 12 all together on the page, and it shouldnt be tough i guess as ive noticed youve
- focused on images a lot in some of your edits. ;) thanks if you can help!

Cid
Edit
Should be all good now, I added the reprint template in. I've always felt we could do what the reprint template is doing inside the full comic template instead of having another template for virtually the same thing. What are your feelings on that?
— Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 22:36, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
- Yea, I think it's something Wikia is messing with, the new gallery tag seems to disallow templates to be used in them. This just started today, so I figured I'd give it a day or two before complaining, since it might get changed back. It also broke the cvd and cvdx templates, so I had to modify those temporarily to get them to work. In the case of the c and cid templates, there's no way to really tweak them to work temporarily, because in order to use the # sign in comic names, we have to be able to remove it to point to the right title, and without templates, you can't remove those.
- Hopefully wikia is working on something and it'll be fixed tomorrow or the next day...

uncanny file names
Edit
- it just so happens i came across another mistake..
- for Uncanny X-Men #499s textless cover, it is
- incorrectly labeled 498, and on 498s page as well.
- just letting you know and id preciate
- the fix if you can get to it!
- --Johnnybravo44 03:36, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
- i found another one actually, although im not even sure if it is
- a mistake. for issue #515, the textless cover belongs to #519,
- although the 515 info says solicited cover, so possibly not..
- im sure you might know though..
- --Johnnybravo44 15:51, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
- awesome, im done checking through uncanny x-men, (issue #322-522),
- and i cant find any other mistakes, unless i might have missed one...
- im looking through avengers now..
- --Johnnybravo44 02:50, March 30, 2010 (UTC)
- thats true, im not a huge fan of avengers either..
- but im at least gonna fix the images ;)
- to make it easier on me, ill work about
- 50 at a time, and then update Avengers Vol 1, 2, and 3 also. :)

avengers file names
Edit
- Vol 2 and Vol 3 are correct. :)
- Vol 1 (issues #350-up) are correct also. :)
- ive now skimmed through current issues of New Avengers Vol 1 (13 errors total),
and current issues of Mighty Avengers Vol 1 ill get to.- (just found out all the covers are perfect for Mighty!!)
- lettin you know if youd like to fix them, ill let you take
- your time though, ill only update the Vol 1 pages not the
- individual comics just yet. ;)
- --Johnnybravo44 18:35, March 30, 2010 (UTC)
- spoke to soon, there is some errors with the textless covers on Mighty..
- --Johnnybravo44 19:08, March 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Not to butt in, but if you guys come across a huge number of files that need to be moved (maybe like Avengers Vol 1, but I think I might've gotten that one), let me know, I can use a bot to go through and automatically change the file names.
- — Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 19:35, March 30, 2010 (UTC)
- sure, yeah i noticed the textless covers for New Avengers, to many are missing though, so bot seems to be the best idea.
- finally finished New Avengers myself (side from textless copletely, which i guess bot'll do)
- im gonna skim through Young Avengers now...

Young Avengers
Edit
I assume you're correcting the cover names AFTER you've corrected the names on the page? As is, most, if not all, of the Young Avengers covers are...just...not there. Since I know you occasionally use bots, I just gotta ask. --GrnMarvl14 01:49, April 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Alright, I'm seeing them now. Must have just been a momentary thing. Weird, but it's past now. Looks good again.

edits
Edit
cool i didnt know, i always checked from the Community page, haha. actually i have a question.. is it really important for the '?' in the What If? file names? for example, if it was just 'What If Vol 2 100.jpg' cause if it is, a lot dont have the question mark i think.. --Johnnybravo44 13:08, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Added by Artful Dodger- i actually noticed that myself when i put it on David Haller's page, it showed up fine, unless i put the image at 200px or over, so thats weird.. another weird new mutants cover is to the left its used on their page, but as a different cover, except when you click on it, it shows up like so. strange.. --Johnnybravo44 12:27, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

Yea, it's not absolutely necessary. I noticed that some bots have trouble identifying images in galleries without the 'File:' but those same bots have trouble identifying all the images in a gallery anyway. Plus, it looks a bit cleaner. :)

Suspiciously missing images
Edit
Oh Balls,
I forgot to fix up the Cover Image Needed Category, thanks for the catch. Yea, I realized today when I was moving mass amounts of covers that if they're named the same as the page, we shouldn't need to specify them. I didn't know if it'd be cool or not, so I figured I'd try. What do you think?
I'll fix the categorization. :)
— Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 03:41, April 24, 2010 (UTC)
- Oh yea, I didn't know how deep I wanted to get into auto-specifying the images. Since Variants can have so many different names, but we've generally decided that " Textless" is the only version of that, I figured we'd start with Textless and see how it goes. Plus, if you go beyond the second image, you get into much more complicated coding to figure out when the various names do and don't exist. So in short, "We'll see..." :)
- — Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 03:43, April 24, 2010 (UTC)
Ew! Is it displaying the 'Textless' variation all the time, regardless if it exists? I thought I had set it up so that it only checks if Image2 isn't specified, and only inserts if File:PAGENAME Textless.jpg exists...
The Categorization fix wasn't too difficult:
What was there before:
Edit
{{#if: {} | | }}
What is there now:
Edit
{{#if: {} | | }}
As you can see, it now checks to see if Image is filled in, then checks to see if "File:PAGENAME.jpg" exists, then checks to see if "File:PAGENAME Textless.jpg" exists. If any of those are true, it puts nothing on the page, but if all of them are false, it puts the category.

Wolverine Notes Section
Edit
FYI: I recently removed this because it appears to be a copy straight from wikipedia, with maybe a few sentences removed. I tracked it to an edit by you on Jan 31st. This strikes me as kind of bizarre as I don't believe you'd do such a thing, so I'd be happy to talk about it or see a reworking of the material. --Squirrelloid 09:12, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
- You moved it from another page? Oh joy, I suppose I should try to figure out if its presence on that page predates wikipedias then. (Much Ugg.) --Squirrelloid 18:03, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Bots Applesauce
Edit
Have you tried it in the past? Unfortunately, moving pages is something that has to be done with the python bot. If you haven't tried it before, you can try my step-by-step explanation, and if you have any trouble, ask questions. That's basically what I use, running a program called 'movepages.py' on all the images found on the Comic List page. It works 'most' of the time, but for some reason that I can't figure out, sometimes it doesn't see the 'right' name of some of the images. It doesn't seem to incorrectly move anything, but does lead to weird output at the end. Anyhoo, try that explanation, then try an easy example, like 'replace.py -page:User_talk:Artful_Dodger "coolio" "cool"' (changing any occurrences of 'coolio' to 'cool' on your user talk page. Once you can get something like that to run, mass page renaming is a hop skip and a jump away. :)
— Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 06:22, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
- I checked out the problem with the new NYX series, I forgot to remove the colon from the pagename when looking for the existance of the cover image while categorizing. Should be all better now.
- Let me know when you get the replace function working the way you want, and I'll teach you about movepages.py. :)
- — Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talk • contribs • email) 05:35, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Sure thing.
- Are you online? Which IM/IRC service do you use? It's easier to troubleshoot these things in real-time rather than over the talk pages. I can access the IRC stuff, or gtalk or skype or googletalk in gmail... probably even more than that. :)

Edit
Awesome! It's weird - I can't see how the name of the Young X-Men could have stuck around misspelled for so long. Also, it seems like Nate's bot only caught a small part of the entries when the page was moved. I hope I manually got the rest...--edkaufman 16:26, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks
Edit
Thanks for the greeting. I've been lurking around here for a few months now, and finally decided to start editing. I hope you don't mind that I just added that volume to the list. - Oh, heres another weird issue cover: Astonishing X-Men Vol 3 1 Textless.jpg
- It is shown on the Comics:Astonishing X-Men Vol 1 1 page, my guess is the file was first created with the forgetting of the first two volumes.. however, there is no Image2 for me to edit on the page of the comic. so that means a senseless redirect of this file (the file to the left) needs to be deleted. but i cant delete pages, so i figured you could fix it up :) (im pretty sure i explained that all right..) ;) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 10:02, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
- Really? So theres no need for the Image, or Image2? Im not sure how I havent run across that yet.. I just finished Avengers Vol 1 adding it in.. :( but at least I know for the future not to. :) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 07:47, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
- Check! that does make more sense.. --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 07:37, May 8, 2010 (UTC)
Blackheart
Edit
Thanks for the heads up. He was, I assume, referencing Marvel.com's Power Grids, which are REALLY screwed up (Polaris is either a 6 or 7 in intelligence). I sent him an e-mail that, hopefully, explained things and marked it as fixed. Hopefully, if he still has an issue, he'll reply to my e-mail and discuss it that way, and not just mark the page as a problem again (unless there's another problem, of course). --GrnMarvl14 13:58, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

Hot Nam!
Edit
It's because of the apostrophe at the beginning. I think the template ignores 'The' and treats the Apostrophe as the first character, which would be fine, but it's not translating the html text for apostrophe, "" into an apostrophe.
Not sure if it's a big deal or not... What do you think?
