Synopsis for "The Retribution Affair (Part 5) - Best Laid Plans"Edit

Moira MacTaggart, Callisto, and Cyclops are captured by Conscience. Cyclops attacks Conscience with his optic blasts, but Conscience is unaffected by them; Cyclops begins to feel the effects of the Retribution virus, and his blasts weaken and then fade away entirely; he goes unconscious. Callisto, enraged, attacks Conscience as well, but he easily defeats her, and begins to lecture the trio on why mutants must be eradicated, as Cyclops dies. The mediscan interrupts and informs Conscience that the virus has mutated and will now kill humans as well as mutants. Horrified by this, Conscience leaves and tries to convince Master Mold to terminate the imminent release of the virus-containing spores, but Mold has calculated that 7.6 percent of humanity will survive, compared to 0% of mutants. He deems this an acceptable loss, and refuses to terminate the operation.

Synopsis for "Panther's Quest (Part 9) - Justifiable Action"Edit

Black Panther and a mercenary named Eugene van der Merwe face off, and Black Panther easily defeats the mercenary. However, as he defeats Merwe, more mercenaries have him at gunpoint.

Synopsis for "Let's Take It from Where I Swing in and Rescue You..."Edit

Paladin is reclining on a tropical beach, and tells the audience this story: he is hired by a newspaper publisher to rescue his daughter, in Dallas, Texas. She tells him that her kidnap was just a ploy to get Paladin to get him to put pressure on her father to return thousands of acres of land to farmers in Seattle, Washington. He takes her back to her father, who reveals that he only withheld to land to keep it from a corrupt Florida-based company that wanted to use it as a toxic waste dump. Paladin travels to Florida, where he finds that the company is working for a European crime syndicate, which points him to the KGB, who tell him that they are working for a group of intergalactic warlards who plan to enslave Earth, based in Antarctica. Paladin calls in the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Alpha Flight, and the Soviet Super-Soldiers, who easily defeat the aliens. Back at the beach, Paladin reflects that playing the superhero can be a lot of fun, as long as you don't take it too seriously; a beautiful woman that he met on his travels walks onto the scene, and he advises that the reader move on to the next story to avoid trouble with the Comics Code Authority.

Synopsis for "The First Cut"Edit

A woman named Maria asks The Thing to help her with an enraged ex-boyfriend who has been genetically modified to become a formidable adversary to even The Thing. The Thing manages to talk him out of doing anything drastic, although he collapses an apartment building in the process.
