HistoryEdit

The Celtic gods were often rivals of the Asgardians due to the Viking and Germanic tribes' invasion of the lands of the Celts and the Gaul.

As part of his evil schemes, Seth sent dark griffin-like beasts to attack the other pantheons' worshipers. Thor followed one such beast from Asgard to Avalon. There, he was mistaken for causing the deaths of a family, and Leir challenged Thor to battle. However, the beast soon returned and Hogun the Grim arrived to help. Chasing it back to Asgard, the beast was slain by Volstagg and Fandral.

Leir felt he was in debt to the Asgardians. After hearing the cry of the Enchantress as Seth's armies attacked Asgard, Leir assisted Balder and Tyr.

As the battle raged on the other Celtic gods arrived to help, realizing they too would be targets of Seth. Odin was eventually able to defeat Seth.

Later, Leir and the Dagda assisted Asgard as it was seemingly cut off from Earth. Thor was also missing at the time. During these events he became enamored of Sif and thought she would make a perfect bride. Sif said if he could defeat a champion she chose, she would marry him, but not until after the current danger had passed.

The two found Thor and Hercules in the Black Galaxy. They returned to Asgard and stopped Ymir and Surtur's battle.

Leir then challenged Thor again, expecting him to be the one Sif chose. Sif said she was the challenger and surprisingly defeated him. Caber joked that it was a pity for Leir to be unworthy of such a fine bride, and they returned to Avalon.

Powers and AbilitiesEdit

Powers

Leir possesses the conventional attributes of the Celtic Gods:
Superhuman Strength: Leir possesses superhuman strength much greater than that of the vast majority of his race. Whereas the average male Celtic God can lift about 30 tons, Leir is capable of lifting up to 100 tons.
Superhuman Speed: Despite his great size, Leir is capable of running and moving at speeds much greater than even the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Stamina: Leir's advanced musculature produces considerably less fatigue toxins than the muscles of humans during physical activity. He can exert himself at peak capacity for about 24 hours before fatigue begins to impair him, which is about average for the Celtic Gods.
Superhumanly Dense Tissue: Leir's skin, muscle, and bone tissues are about 3 times as dense as the same tissue in a human. This contributes somewhat to Leir's superhuman strength and his weight.
Superhuman Durability: Leir's body is highly resistant to physical injury. He can withstand great impact forces, temperature and pressure extremes, and powerful blasts of energy without sustaining injury.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Like all other members of his race, if injured, Leir is capable of healing with superhuman speed and efficiency due to his godly metabolism. However, he is incapable of regenerating missing limbs or organs.
Extended Longevity: Though not immortal, as some other god pantheons, Leir, like all Celtic Gods, ages much slower than human beings. He is also immune to all known Earthly diseases and infections.
Energy Manipulation: Leir is capable of manipulating great amounts of electrical energy in the form of lightning-like spears from his hands and hurl them as weapons. Coupled with his great strength, these lightning spears are capable of shattering most known substances
