History

When Dazzler was employed by the talent agent Harry Osgood, Osgood hired Lancelot Steele to act as her bodyguard/field manager. Usually useless, due to Dazzler's mutant abilities helping her out of jams, Lance found himself more often rescued or saved by Dazzler instead of the other way around (such as when she was sought out by Dr. Doom).

Lance is well-muscled and physically strong by non-superhuman standards. He was also overconfident and not regarded as highly intelligent. He once, for example, lunged at the She-Hulk, believing himself to be physically capable of overpowering any female. She-Hulk, using appropriate restraint for non-superhuman adversaries, easily kayoed him for his efforts.

Lance was also fiercely loyal to his client. He confronted Bruce Harris (Earth-616), correctly discerning that the temperamental performer was threatened by Dazzler's abilities as a singer. Even after Harry Osgood dropped Dazzler as a client, Lance bitterly reprimanded Harry's secretary Cassie for her relentless snide comments directed at Dazzler, which Lance averred was due to jealousy.
