History

1940s

When chemistry teacher Jeff Jordan discovered a wonder fluid the first person he told about his discovery was student Tim Mulrooney. However, as he handed Tim a vial containing a sample to look at, the container was fumbled and dropped to the ground. Smashing on the floor, the fluid within exploded on exposure to air, releasing a cloud of potent gas. The fumes caused Jeff to pass out, but Tim managed to hang on long enough to open a window, possibly saving both their lives.

Awakening, Jeff discovered he had gained superhuman strength. Given the era and the war, this newfound power inspired him to adopt a colourful costumed persona, that of Captain Wonder, with Tim as his faithful sidekick.

Captain Wonder is among the heroes who fought the Nazis at the end of World War II and while searching a base, was captured and put in suspended animation.

Modern Day

When they are awoken 60 years later, Captain Wonder is one of the two who discover that it is the 21st Century. He also discovers that his wife died 20 years earlier and his two sons were killed in the Vietnam War. Later he meets his old sidekick, now a old man.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Superhuman strength (see Strength).

Flight: Captain Wonder is able to fly.

Strength level

Captain Wonder had, at one time, been described as having "the strength of twelve men." This power level has clearly been revised in modern times, since Captain Wonder has recently demonstrated sufficient strength and flying power to carry the damaged space shuttle Olympus, an object with thousands of tons of mass.[1]

Paraphernalia

Weapons

Captain Wonder often carried a Tommy gun when fighting the Axis forces during WWII.

Notes

Trivia

  • Captain Wonder's origin and powers are quite similar to other heroes of the time, especially The Black Terror, whose sidekick's name is also Tim!
