Two people have used the alias Wasp in the mainstream continuity. Janet van Dyne is the original one, being a member of the Avengers for years, including leading them at certain times. She recently died at the hands of the Queen Skrull Veranke during the Secret Invasion. Tricked into taking a tampered growth serum, she would have exploded, killing many, if not for Thor being forced to intervene and kill her. The second, Hank Pym, formerly used the codename Wasp in honor and rememberance of his deceased former wife.
