In the mainstream Marvel universe, a revolving door of individuals have held the name Jack O'Lantern throughout the years, all of them using the mantel for criminal purposes. The current man behind the mask is an unnamed operative of The Crime-Master. Claiming to have killed all previous users of the Jack O'Lantern mantle, he has appointed himself as the archenemy of Agent Venom. Other individuals that have operated under the mantel of the Jack O'Lantern in the main Marvel universe have included:

  • Jason Macendale, Jr., a mercenary and ex-C.I.A. agent who created the Jack O'Lantern identity, but abandoned it when he became the fourth person to operate as the Hobgoblin.
  • After Levins vanished, a Jack O'Lantern working for Norman Osborn appeared in New York, referring to himself as "Mad Jack". It was revealed that the Jack O'Lantern was actually two people working in unison: Daniel Berkhart, the main performer, and Maguire Beck. Berkhart would eventually go back to using the Mysterio name, while Beck, still calling herself "Mad Jack", committed crimes as Jack O'Lantern until she was arrested.
  • During the Dark Reign, an unnamed man claiming to be Steven Levins' brother was released from police custody by Norman Osborn after committing a murder. The unnamed man aligned himself with Osborn's villains, but was not seen again.

It should be noted that there are two different "factions" concerning the Jack O'Lantern mantle. Jason Macendale, Jr., Daniel Berkhart, Maguire Beck and The Crime-Master's apprentice all used costumes, common illusions and conventional weaponry to portray the Jack O'Lantern. On the other hand, the Levins brothers both admitted to selling their souls to Mephisto, who in turn granted them a Jack O'Latern identity, complete with supernatural powers and the ability to turn into the Jack O'Lantern at will.

The Alternate Versions listed below are versions of all six Jack O'Lanterns listed above, as well as other characters who have taken up the mantle outside Mainstream continuity.
