When Odin was trapped in the Sea of Eternal Night, Hela had tried to steal his soul. She only partially succeeded, and cast this half of Odin's soul into the cosmos, and called it Infinity. This half-soul creature sought to be whole once again, and tried to claim the body of Odin for itself.
