History

The Immortus that appeared on Earth-9997 was one of the many temporal duplicates of Nathaniel Richards, who was most commonly known as Kang the Conqueror. According to the visions of Kyle Richmond of Earth-9997, the history of this version of Immortus closely resembled that of Kang of Earth-6311.

The being known as Immortus started off as a bored member of his 31st Century society and travel back in time seeking adventure. He become Rama-Tut, and would later get involved in events that would cause him to become the Scarlet Centurion, Kang the Conqueror, and finally Immortus much like how events have played out for various other incarnations of Nathaniel Richards, and the events that led to this eventual transformation of personalities are similar to events that occurred on Earth-616, and various other realities. Although presumably, this version of Immortus is possibly a divergence of one of the many Cross-Time Kang's that became Immortus, or a divergence from the original Immortus. Due to the nature of Nathaniel Richard's existence across time, it is almost impossible to determine the real origins of this version of Immortus.

According to the visions of Kyle Richmond, Immortus would be selected as an agent of the Time-Keepers, a group of beings at the end of time who wished time to be kept linear, and so that all history would end with them and He Who Remains. This task has become complicated by one of the Time-Keepers apparent agent, Mephisto who was placed to monitor all time, however had decided to avoid the "final judgment" at the end of time by creating alternate realities and time lines to make the end of all time almost an impossible goal.

The Immortus that would interact with Earth-9997 would get involved with the entities of that universe due in part or in total by manipulations made by Mephisto in order to create yet another alternate reality through time manipulation. Having seen a future where a mutated humanity was destined for the stars (The future of Earth-7614) and would come to Earth-9997 in order to prepare the mutated humanity for this apparent destiny.

He arrived just after the Celestial living in Earth's core was destroyed by Galactus, and the resulting destruction caused a loss and/or redistribution of Vibranium in the Earth's core off setting the planets rotational axis and threatening to destroy the entire planet.

Setting up the Church of Immortus, with the mysterious Mr. Church (secretly Mephisto, seeking to manipulate Immortus for his own ends), they would begin promoting the idea of humanities destiny in the stars. They would recruit Spiders Man, and use his illusion casting abilities to make others believe that the Church had more food and other supplies during a time when these items were scarce and people were starving in the street or dieing in the cold in the newly changed climates.

Centralized in New York, the group would target the Human Torches, giant torches that were made to burn the Terrigen Mists out of the Earth's atmosphere as part of Reed Richard's plan to restore humanity to it's proper evolutionary state. Immortus visited Richards and warn him that his Church would do everything in it's power to have the Torch's destroyed. Immortus would avoid mutating himself by returning to Limbo just before the mists in the Earth's atmosphere would begin to effect him. Eventually, the Church would be delivered a major blow when Spiders Man would be captured by the Law, New York's super powered police force. Another blow to the group would be Immortus being locked out of Limbo and going into seclusion as he started to mutate. This was all a plot by Mephisto to gain full control of the Church in his guise of Mr. Church and use them for his own ends.

Immortus would eventually mutate, his face peeling off and having a physical form resembling that of Kang the Conqueror. Becoming desperate, Immortus decided that if he could travel through time he could prevent himself from entering this reality and thus prevent his own mutation, the desired result of Mephisto's manipulations. As Mr. Church, Mephisto would bring to Immortus Dr. Doom's time machine (stolen from Castle Doom) and offering it to him. He would be stopped by the timely arrival of Captain Mar-Vel, Kyle Richmond and X-51 who had come to foil Mephisto's plans. When Mephisto would try to get Immortus to help stop the heroes, he made the mistake of calling him Kang, sending Immortus into a fury, and destroying the time machine. Immortus, renouncing the idea of becoming his former self again, would join the heroes in their battles against the reborn Absorbing Man.

Immortus would later join with Reed Richards and a number of Earth-9997's other greatest minds, following the death of Death, in order to figure out how to make humanity die, who have not been able to do so following Death's destruction. His current whereabouts are presently unknown, however he is probably still active in the reconstruction of Earth-9997's society following the implementation of Jude as the new Death.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Immortus has no super-human abilities, when he mutated into his "Kang" appearance, his mutation appears to only be physical, as mutation on Earth-9997 is partially influenced by your subconscious, it is unlikely that Immortus gained more than a physical mutation due to his exposure to the Terrigen Mists.

Presumably Immortus has the same abilities as his other counterparts in the time stream. During his time on Earth-9997 he was a gifted speaker and spiritual leader

Strength level

Presumably the same as his alternate counterparts, he has not exhibited any super human strength.

Immortus' greatest weakness is his constant struggle to prevent himself from reverting to his old Kang persona.

Immortus utilized time travel equipment that allowed him to transport himself anywhere on Earth at any point in time.
