Cable met Hope Summers on New Liberty, hoping to live a safe life with his adopted daughter. When he first arrived they argued a lot but soon fell in love. Together they raise baby Hope Summers (Earth-616). When insect men invaded New Liberty, Cable took his family and fled to mainland USA. They travel together for a while but eventually Cable fails to protect her from an armed gang and she is shot to death. They bury her and Cable names his daughter Hope in her honor.
