History

In September 1935, Greta Erskine attempted to flee Germany with her family. Her father was a Jew and Abraham Erskine wanted to take his family to safety. They were stopped at the Germany/Switzerland border by Johann Schmidt and his men. Schmidt wanted Erskine's work on ways to increase molecular density of cellular fibers through synthetic proteins. In order to ensure Abraham's cooperation, Schmidt sent her and her children Klaus and Marlene to the Dachau concentration camp. She died during a typhus outbreak.
