Gomez was sent by Director Stark with his partners Carstairs, Colletti and Farrell and to investigate potential bomb threats in Kirikhstan. He came too close to one of the targets and a low-yeld nucler weapon exploded, causing him severe burns. He was planning to retire from the S.H.I.E.L.D. and was supposed to be assigned to the Stark Enterprises[1].
