History

Genosha is a small island located south east of Madagascar on the eastern coast of Africa.

Genosha was a thriving country, one of the richest in the world. However, the nation's wealth was due to using mutants as slaves. The government tested their citizens, and any mutants were stripped of basic rights.

The X-Men exposed Genosha's dark secrets to the world. The island fell from grace, ravaged by civil wars. Eventually, the United Nations gave control of the nation to the mutant terrorist Magneto. He threatened to cripple Earth with EMP waves, and the UN offered Genosha to appease him.

Magneto and his Acolytes defeated all opposition within a few months. Uniting the nation, the island became a thriving hub for mutants; all humans were deported. Still not satisfied, Magneto planned to use a mutant army to conquer the rest of the world but he was stopped once again by the X-Men.

Not long after, tragedy struck. Cassandra Nova sent giant Sentinels to the nation, killing nearly all 16 million mutant citizens along with Magneto. Only Emma Frost and a handful of others survived.

Returning to the island after hearing rumors of psychic ghosts Charles Xavier and Jean Grey found Polaris, naked and imbalanced crying for her "father" Magneto. Also amid the ruins was Unus the Untouchable, believed dead for years. Toad and other acolytes built a large statue out of the destroyed sentinels in tribute to Magneto.

After the Magneto impostor's attack on New York City, Xavier returned to Genosha to rebuild. Joining him was Magneto himself, not dead after all, and the Morlock Callisto. Then after it finished its rampage at the Mansion Danger went to Genosha to kill Xavier. Xavier however, knew she was coming and prepared one place that she can't duplicate: a handful of electric poles. The X-Men eventually won but after a handful of personal defeats, and being put at odds with their founder.
