Synopsis for "In Search of Candy"

The Skystriker is flying over Cobra Island with Ace and Ripcord conducting a surveillance mission. Candy's father, Appel, alerts Zartan about the Skystriker violating their airspace and suggests shooting it down. However, Zartan worries that it might be a civilian airliner and doesn't want to jeopardize the island's sovereignty. Ripcord is in a bad mood after his girlfriend, Candy, was kidnapped by a Dreadnok and Candy's father revealed that she might be a Cobra agent.

Hawk visits General Austin in the hospital in Washington D.C. and reports their long-range surveillance of Cobra Island. Hawk reminds Austin that the island's sovereign nation status is enough of a problem for the government without military action, making even deep cover operations out of the question. Flint introduces Snake-Eyes and Spirit to two new Joes, Quick Kick and Alpine. But, Snake-Eyes overhears a chaplain's assistant talking about a telegram received from a county sheriff who picked up a transmission on the police net to pass onto them.

Ripcord lands on the island by the beach, and Prof. Appel tells Zartan that it seems the Skystriker ejected something. Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes blast off from New York aboard captured C.L.A.W.s to join the rescue mission, while Ripcord confronts a Cobra Trooper and demands to know where Appel is. Austin contacts the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and proposes the "Alpha" plan, while Wild Bill and Airborne drop the other Joes aboard a dinghy to direct it to the island. Ripcord and Zartan exchange bullets and arrows, and the man stands over his unconscious enemy and comments how his strength beat his foe. Now he can take the other's identity and infiltrate his headquarters.
