HistoryEdit

Freeman Mosher
NausiatedAdded by Nausiated
During the Civil War, the ancestors of Freeman Mosher terrorized Crawford family, who were wealthy at the time. On February 13, 1804 the Mosher bandits stormed the Crawford House forcing Colonel Crawford to hide the family wealth within a hidden compartment in the guest bedroom of their home and fought to the death.

By the fall of 1942, there were only two surviving Crawfords: the elderly Mrs. Crawford and her grand-daughter Jane. With the family fortune depleted the only thing they had left was the home, and were completely unaware of the hidden fortune in the house. As an ironic twist of fate, the only surviving member of the Mosher clan, Freeman, was the gardener hired by the Crawfords. Also by this time, historian Professor Ratcher came to live at the Crawford home to research the family history and go through old papers.

Learning of the possibility that there might be valuables hidden in the house, Freeman made a costumed fashioned after a local legend called the "Bloody Crocodile" and began terrorizing the Crawford home, killing any of the servants foolish enough to venture out at night. However this reign of terror would soon come to a end the night that Steve Rogers and Bucky were testing a two-man parachute and landed in the area. Witnessing the most recent murder they would go to the Crawford house. Distrusting the strangers, Mrs. Crawford demanded they get off her property, but Jane slipped them a note asking for help. Help the Crawfords would get, in the form of Captain America and Bucky.

Invited in by the butler, the two heroes spotted the Crocodile in the house and fought him off and forced him to flee. Gathering the family members and staff, the two heroes learned the family history. Just then Freeman, having doffed his Crocodile costume came in claiming to have seen the Crocodile fleeing the house into the swamp. Ratcher dismissed the old legends of the Bloody Crocodile and retired to be while Captain America and Bucky were allowed to explore the old house. That night, the butler was attacked by the Crocodile in the cellar, and saved from a grizzly death by Cap and Bucky. As they fought the Crocodile, the villain doused the lights and managed to get away in the scuffle. In order to protect his identity, he removed his costume once more and came down pretending to have heard the commotion while gardening. When Ratcher came down to see what the noise was all about, Mosher accused him of being the Crocodile, but the professor refused to admit it calling them fools.

At midnight, Mosher once more put on his costume and began stalking through the house. Spotted once more by Captain America and Bucky, he managed to escape through a secret passage way hidden in a grandfather clock. The passage took him to Jane's room and he attacked the girl. Before he could kill Jane, Captain American and Bucky burst into the room, forcing the Crocodile to stop his attack and jump out a nearby window. While the two heroes checked on how Jane was doing, the Crocodile entered Ratcher's room and shot him dead, making it look like a suicide and then went to wait in the swamp. Examining the notes that Ratcher had uncovered, Cap finds a letter written by Colonel Crawford explaining where the hidden family fortune was and realize that the Crocodile was going to attack Mrs. Crawford's room next.

The two heroes arrive just in time to stop Mosher from killing Mrs. Crawford, knocking him out with a single punch and revealing his true identity. Opening the hidden compartment in the bedpost, Cap revealed Mosher's motivation for terrorizing the family. With the caper over, Cap and Bucky paid their farewells, Mosher was likely turned over to the authorities.

His subsequent fate is unknown.

ParaphernaliaEdit

Equipment

Mosher wore a costume that resembled a Crocodile. While he hung out in swamps, it is unspecified if it had any adaptations that assisted in swimming, nor did it appear to have any oxygen supply that would allow him to breath underwater.

Weapons

As the Crocodile, Mosher used a series of knives and carried a pistol.
