Synopsis for "It Came From The Skies!"Edit
In order to save the people of "Planet X", ruler Kurrgo travels to Earth to seek the Fantastic Four's help. While the FF are receiving an award for their heroism, Kurrgo turns on a device that suddenly makes the people of Earth hostile to the Fantastic Four and they are forced into exile.
Confronted by Kurrgo, the FF agree to go to Planet X to help save his people from a meteor that threatens to destroy them. Arriving on Planet X, Reed is quick to notice that although an advanced race, the people of Planet X don't have the resources necessary to build a rocket to escape. Creating a variation of Henry Pym's shrinking gas, Reed shrinks down all the people to a miniature size so that they can all board a giant rocket. When Kurrgo doesn't shrink himself and attempts to take over the shuttle so that he can rule over his miniature people, he falls behind and is left to face the planet's destruction while his people and the Fantastic Four flee the doomed world. The FF then return home.
NotesEdit
- This issue documents the Fantastic Four's first journey to another planet (following their failed attempt to go to Mars in Fantastic Four #1 and their journey to the Skrull starship in Fantastic Four #2).
- The Human Torch first attempts to use his Nova Flame in this issue.
- Mister Fantastic recreates Henry Pym's Shrinking Gas formula using Kurrgo's advanced scientific equipment. According to Marvel Saga #5, Reed Richards is "the only other scientist whom the Ant-Man has entrusted with the secret of his reducing formula."
- Kurrgo and his robot appear next in Marvel Feature #11.
- This issue is reprinted in other comics and books, see references for more info.[6]
TriviaEdit
- Kurrgo's original ship was the ship the Fantastic Four used on a number of later interstellar missions, although it is usually called the Skrull saucer.
