Synopsis for 1st story

Reprint of the 1st story from
House of M #5

Inside Layla Miller's head, Emma Frost analyzes what her powers are. Apparently, given that they are simultaneously psychic and not psychic, capable of awakening the unconscious memories of a person even in a reality warp, she is described as a conundrum. Emma offers her to coach Layla to help them gather any heroes to save the world.

When they return to the physical world, a confused Cyclops has come in. Layla, with Emma's help, awakens Cyclops to the truth of their situation. He barfs as a result, before asking about Professor Xavier. Wolverine then explains that they don't know and he isn't at the Institute. But there are a few people they can locate.

Peter Parker is enjoying a nice day with his family. Then, right in front of him are the awakening heroes. Layla restores his memories, causing him to freak out from the shock, especially to see Gwen Stacy and his Uncle Ben alive, and runs off. While Emma telepathically suggests that his family go to the park, Wolverine locates Peter up on a rooftop, trying to convince himself that this is a trick of Mysterio's. After a short talk with Wolverine, Peter states that he will beat Magneto and his family to death with his bare hands.

The heroes then locate and awaken Kitty Pryde, Stephen Strange, Carol Danvers, Tony Stark, Jennifer Walters and Matt Murdock. However, they don't select Steve Rogers, who had never gone through World War II and therefore is an old man.

Emma explains to the assembled heroes their theory that Magneto used his daughter Wanda to create this world and used Xavier to discover and grant their deepest desires so they'd feel comfortable. She then asks if there are any doubts; there are none, except for Hawkeye, whose thoughts she is able to read. She asks that he allow Layla to awaken his true memories, but he refuses to have his head poked in. Wolverine and Murdock sense the Red Guard's approach, who crash through the wall. As the fighting begins, Rogue grabs Layla by the hair and demands that they all surrender. However, her exposed finger touches Layla's skin, causing her to absorb her power and quickly awaken the rest of the Red Guard; Mystique, shocked that she was in a relationship with Wolverine in this reality, slips him across the face, breaking her hand. Danvers then notices that Hawkeye's gone. As everyone adjusts and asks for a plan, Wolverine states that they must go to Genosha to get the whereabouts of Xavier from Magneto.

In Genosha, Polaris approaches her father Magneto, to inform him that their guests will be arriving soon. He promises to attend to that, but first want to approach the Xavier Memorial Garden, which reads "He died so Genosha could live."

Emma Frost leads the assembled X-Men and Avengers, including Toad and Mystique, onboard the Helicarrier, using her telepathy to prevent anyone from seeing or hearing them. She then plants a command in Captain Greycrow's head to set course for Genosha.

A Latverian aircraft arrives in Genosha. Once it docks, Victor Von Doom disembarks to shake hands with Magneto, mainly for the pictures.

As the assembled heroes take a small break in the Helicarrier's cafeteria, Luke Cage tries calling his girlfriend Jessica Jones, only to hit her answering machine, learning that in this reality, she is dating a man named Scott. Cyclops then gives a rousing speech to everyone, stating that no matter what, they cannot hold back if they are to return things to the way they were. Spider-Man asks how are they going to do just that, to which Emma responds that they will figure that out when they arrive. However, Jessica Drew asks if it's better that they take a chance for happiness, to which Wolverine and Emma disagree.

In Genosha, as the House of Magnus welcomes von Doom, Namor, Storm, T'Challa and Genis-Vell as honoured guests from their respective nations, Cyclops organizes the X-Men and Avengers into three teams, to distract Magneto while Doctor Strange and Emma locate Professor Xavier. He is proven right, when one of the guards, Phantazia, senses the approach of a Sentinel, bearing down on the city. Magneto and Polaris are able to stop it in mid-air with their magnetic powers. Then, out of the Sentinel came the awakened heroes, attacking as a hard and fast as they could. Even Rogue tackles Namor and Storm to absorb their powers.

Elsewhere, Cloak brings Emma and Layla Miller to the Xavier Memorial Garden. Emma collapses to her knees, shocked that they have failed. However, Cloak looks beneath the stone and states that there are no bones, meaning that this isn't over yet.

Synopsis for "Season of the Witch Part 3 of 4: To Die For"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Uncanny X-Men #464

After assuring Nocturne's safety, Betsy and Rachel are ambushed by the Marauders in an abandoned building. Rachel allows Nocturne to possess her but is unable to convince Caliban. With the aid of Pete Wisdom they ward off the Marauders, but Rachel's possessed body flies off followed by Betsy. Brian prevents the Marauders from pursuing them but they are all concerned when Meggan morphs into Roma, Saturnyne, and Jaime Braddock. They urge Brian to remember his mission before they are all doomed. Meanwhile, Betsy catches up with Rachel and Nocturne and causes her to crash land with one of her katanas. The two engage in a battle of psychic blades and Psylocke bests Nocturne's dominance, freeing Rachel. Rachel allows the sleeping Nocturne to remain in her body and then travels with Psylocke to her childhood playground, the ruins of St, William's Tower. Using her psychometric powers, Rachel shows Betsy that the site used to be a Chinese fortress. As Betsy shares her family history, Rachel is startled by a lighthouse which, at its base, has an x-shaped hole slashed through reality. Betsy steps closer, thinking their powers would protect her, but she is sucked into the hole and reality manipulates her body. At the Braddock manor, Brian is given more visions, alerting him to the danger of the breach in the walls of causality and the time limit he has to seal it before Roma destroys his reality. He and Meggan are interrupted by Omega Sentinel and her squadron of Sentinels, where she declares them under arrest for high treason. Back at the lighthouse, Rachel manages to pull Betsy out of the rift where reality is unraveling. They are then inhibited by Banshee's scream allowing Nocturne to escape Rachel's body. The Marauders capture the fugitive as Betsy and Brian share each others thoughts and experience through their twin bond. Brian returns his attention back to Omega Sentinel and slams her through her team of Sentinels. She uses their damaged pieces to repair herself and angrily sentences Brian's entire family to death.
