History
Like the comics' version of Venom, the version in this 1990s cartoon is a former reporter named Eddie Brock who becomes bonded to an alien symbiote that was once attached to Spider-Man. The symbiotes origin is altered however, the alien being brought to Earth from a moon-based space exploration. During their return, the astronauts are assaulted by the symbiote and crash their ship on george Washington Bridge where Spider-Man arrives to help, inadvertently collecting the symbiote when he leaves. Realizing that the symbiote's benefits are outweighed by the negative emotions it is creating in him, Spider-Man uses the sound of bells in a church tower to force it to leave his body where it bonds with a webbed-up Brock hanging below. Immediately, Brock learned of Spider-Man secret identity and worked hard to destroy him. After harassing Peter, the latter resolves to get rid of Venom. Luring him to the launch of the new John Jameson satellite, Spider-Man tricked Venom with the engines' loud noises, forcing it to detach from Brock. The symbiote was then launched into space.
Eddie was soon placed in a asylum, vowing to keep Peter's identity a secret, believing that the symbiote will come back. But the doctors, especially Ashley, thought it was all a delusion. But the interdimensional demon, Dormammu, mastermined the symbiote's return to Earth. He had his servant, Mordo, bring the satellite back down to Earth from Stark Enterprises, just as the symbiote was reproducing. He also enchanted a couple of bystanders to be their temporary hosts. Mordo then appeared to Brock in astral projection for, promising the symbiote in exchange for services to Dormammu. Next day, the female host the symbiote was attached to visited Brock, reuniting them, resurrecting Venom, proving it wasn't a delusion. Venom was then ordered to steal an interdimensional transporter from Stark Enterprises. But in a fight against Spider-Man and War Machine, Venom was hit by a sonic blast set by the former, only to be saved by Carnage. But when Carnage attempts to get his revenge Spider-Man, Venom attacked him. Their fight was stopped by Mordo, reminding them of their promise. They stole the transporter then continued their fight. Soon, Venom runs off.
Venom then turned to finishing Spider-Man and then J.J. Jameson. But due to Iron Man's and Ashley's interference, he fled. Ashley caught up to him and they share a romantic moment. But the symbiote was raging, so they go to Dr. Curt Connors, who worked with Spider-Man when the symbiote was originally bonded to him. Using sonics, they separate the symbiote from Brock.
Spider-Man and Iron Man soon come to Brock after Ashley's soul was taken by Carnage, asking where Mordo's lair but also bonded with the symbiote again to save Ashley. They fought against their enemies, just as Dormammu arrived. They send his back to his dimension, but due to his link to Carnage, they sent him through too. Carnage tries to take Ashley with him as he is sucked into an interdimensional portal. Venom tackles Carnage, causing him to lose his grip on Ashley. As he is being sucked into the portal with Carnage, Brock quickly unmasks the symbiote from his face and looks at Ashley, his last words to her being "I'll always love you!" before he disappears into the alternate dimension.
