As X-13 insisted, the annexation was proceeded on this Earth and failed. It is unknown if another attempt was operated, but no mention was made of it by Emmeline Frost during her remaining time into the X-Society[1] nor her time with the multiversal X-Men[2][3].
The divergence start when Subject X convinced his superiors to annex Earth-889 instead of Earth-616.
