In Mesmero's base, a Sentinel captures Mesmero and destroys Magneto - revealed to be a robot! In the Sentinel's base, Judge Chalmers arrives, and expresses doubts about the justice of this persecution of mutants. Larry observes the arrival of the remaining X-Men in the vicinity, and is suddenly assaulted by Banshee - who had surrendered to gain access to the base. He trashes a sentinel, but two more take him down. Furious at being assaulted, Larry orders the sentinels to find and destroy any mutants in the area. Judge Chalmers knocks some sense into Larry, but strips him of his medallion at the same time, and Larry finds he can no longer countermand his orders. In fact, he is soon to be a victim of them - because his amulet hid the fact that he too was a mutant!
