Synopsis for "Twilight of the Mutants!"
Erik the Red is invading Mesmero's base, where he handily outfights a number of Mesmero's brainwashed mutant henchmen. Realizing that he can't take all of them, he brings the ceiling down on them, trapping them and Mesmero away from Lorna and Magneto. Lorna and Erik parley, and Erik convinces Lorna and Magneto to accept him as their second in command. Mesmero and his henchmen are released by Lorna, and made to understand that Erik the Red is giving orders now. Erik sends them out to patrol for the X-men. Elsewhere, Jean Grey telepathically tells the team (minus Iceman, who has feelings for Lorna and is being excluded because of conflict of interest) that Cyclops says operation Twilight is a go, and they all hurry to Mesmero's base. They are setting up a trap for Mesmero and his goons when Iceman bursts in saying he has important information. He gets zapped instead, and then Mesmero stumbles upon them, discovering the X-Men and deducing that Erik is in fact Cyclops. Battle is joined while Beast rushes the unconscious Iceman to safety. The X-Men are hard pressed as a distraught Lorna Dane approaches the battle to defeat the X-Men at Magneto's request. Having just awoken, the weakened Iceman tells Lorna that Magneto has lied to her, that he's not her father, and confirms this story with evidence. She turns on Magneto and helps the X-Men defeat Mesmero and his henchmen. In the last scene, we learn that Lorna is being Bobby's nurse as he recovers from the booby trap.

Synopsis for "The Crimes of the Conquistador!"
The continuing origin story of the Beast, who we join as he is being zapped unconscious by the Conquistador. He carries Beast off, and blackmails Hank to steal a powerful pocket electricity generator by threatening Hank's parents. Meanwhile, the X-Men (Angel, Iceman, Cyclops, Prof X) are trying to find Hank using Professor X's telepathy. The signal Professor X gets is too weak, so Professor X uses Cerebro and locates Hank. However, the X-Men cannot intervene before Hank steals the device and delivers it to Conquistador.
