Elsewhere, Changeling and the Mutant Master have an argument, and then Mutant Master reveals the full scope of his plan: to start a nuclear exchange between the US and the USSR!
The X-Men return to the X-Mansion to plot their moves, then quickly use the flying saucers to split up. Warren, Hank, and Jean head to Eastern Europe, Scott and Bobby to a US missile base. The Eastern Europe team fights their way past the soviet guards and run into Vanisher and Blob attempting to set a bomb to blow up a conference of high-ranking military officers. Iceman and Cyclops have similar luck in the US when they fail to convince the base's commanding officer that the Factor Three plot is real. They spring into action, and attempt to disable all the base's missiles. Back in Eastern Europe, our heroes manage to gas Vanisher and Blob, but then are apprehended by the soviet troops!
