Synopsis for "When Titans Clash!"

The X-Men are skating, and Cyclops goes off to sulk. He dare not let Jean know he loves her unless he can control his power, so he tries, futilely, and unknowingly wakes the Super Adaptoid which is underground nearby. The other X-Men go back to the mansion, but Iceman stays out to work on his skating, and the Super Adaptoid comes across him. He freezes him and runs back to tell the others, who don't believe him. The X-Men are tossing a football when the Super Adaptoid comes across them and defeats them. Mimic is tempted by the Adaptoid, and accepts - but at the last second changes his mind and the fight is rejoined. Mimic ultimately wins the fight, but permanently loses his powers as a result.

• Oddly Calvin Rankin, a student and scientist, does not care to hear the Super Adaptoid's plan and his use of powers, stating, "Save the egghead explanations for Popular Mechanics, big man!"
