Synopsis for "Re-enter the Mimic!"

The Mimic beats the X-Men in combat, then we go back to where the story starts chronologically and learn that Cal Rankin was a student at Metro College with Jean. He gets injured in a chemical explosion and remembers he's the Mimic. Elsewhere, Puppet Master is plotting to take over Professor X, but his puppet fails. Professor X psionically tracks down the person who attempted to take him over, and then its a short hop to metro college to pick up Jean. Cal Rankin spots them and follows them back to the mansion where he confronts them (as seen at the start) and joins the team. Puppet Master takes over Mimic, so the X-Men leave him to chase down Puppet Master and Mimic has to follow or lose his powers. They encounter and defeat The Defender, and the injured Angel thwarts the machinations of the Puppet Master by smashing the Mimic puppet.
