Synopsis for "Too Late, the Heroes!"

The X-Men excluding Wolverine are captives of the Hellfire Club and Phoenix, currently under Mastermind's control as the Black Queen. Thus, it is Wolverine who bursts in, but is stopped by Phoenix. However, Phoenix releases the helmet that is keeping Scott's optic blast in check, and lets him know she's beaten Mastermind's mental control. Scott nails Pierce, frees the other X-men, and then nails Leland before the Hellfire Club has time to react. He then sends Shaw through the floor, and Pierce runs after a brief tussle with Colossus. Mastermind blends in with the wallpaper and hides. Wolverine goes after Leland for a rematch, and knocks him unconscious. Storm and Nightcrawler catch Shaw and force him to flee. Colossus goes after Pierce, destroying one of his arms but Pierce escapes. Jean goes after Mastermind, and imprisons him in his own mind. The X-Men escape the Hellfire Club shortly before the police arrive, and take off in the Blackbird, only to find that Jean has become... Dark Phoenix!
