Synopsis for "Spots!"
Freedom Force has a warrant for Rusty Collin's arrest, and they have him surrounded. Unfortunately for Freedom Force, Skids isn't very easy to hold onto - and she and Rusty take off. Spider-Woman webs Rusty again, and it looks like Freedom Force has them, when a crowd objects to mutants attacking two 'normal' teenagers. X-Factor, hearing the shots, races to investigate, having lost the trail earlier. When they do show up, the crowd has distracted Freedom Force to the point that Rusty and Skids are now free, and Jean encases Freedom Force in a telekinetic field to keep them from pursuing Rusty and getting hit by the crowd's eggs. However, Mystique flashes her government ID, and X-Factor has to let them go. Destiny knows Rusty has entered the sewers, and both she and Artie realize that bad things are happening down in the Morlock tunnels. Artie goes down into the Morlock tunnels, and X-Factor goes after him as the X-Terminators. Freedom Force catches up to Rusty, but the X-Factor shows up and gives battle. After a short battle, Destiny convinces Mystique to withdraw before they are all killed, and Freedom Force departs. Having rescued Rusty, X-Factor is dismayed to hear the sounds of slaughter in the Morlock tunnels.
Notes
- Destiny's precognition and Artie's remote viewing of disturbing things in the tunnels relate to the Mutant Massacre of course, already started in Uncanny X-Men #210, and coming to X-Factor next issue.
