Synopsis for "Regression Obsession"

Dr. Maddicks has just saved Beast from cardiac arrest. He still has him on the operating bed and he is showing signs on his skin of cellular regression. Dr. Maddicks hopes Beast will be ready for "phase 2".

Meanwhile, the rest of the team is questioning Tower. He promises to tell them everything if they agree to let him go. Cyclops finally agrees. As Tower is about to tell them about Dr. Maddicks he is suddenly put into a catatonic state. It seems Dr. Maddicks son Artie has locked Tower's mind so he doesn't tell X-Factor of him. Dr. Maddicks injects Beast with another dose of chemicals as the Beast screams out in pain. This causes Artie to lose focus and allows Tower to be freed of this mindlock. Tower tells X-Factor quickly about Beast and Dr. Maddicks plans and they head toward Ryan Laboratories.

Back at X-Factor's headquarters, Cameron Hodge and Vera Cantor discuss Beast's disappearance. Vera is troubled and Cameron says he has no news. Then, a figure walks in the door and introduces himself as Senator Thompson. He tells Cameron that his coming there is not without risks.

At the labs, Artie establishes a mindlink with Beast by touching him and realizes all the pain Beast has endured. Artie begins to cry. He cannot allow Hank or his father to notice this.

Outside, the rest of the team arrives at the lab and decides to split up to find Beast. Marvel Girl and Iceman go under the fence and head to the south of the building. Cyclops and Angel go to the roof and Warren realizes that Worthington Enterprises holds stock in this company. As they are talking, they are being seen by lab personnel and they inform the guards. As they enter the lab doors they are stopped by guards waiting for them. Jean and Iceman fight through the guards as well. Dr. Maddicks is aware of their intrusion and gathers his items and says he has one more injection to give to Beast.

Cyclops and Angel find an elevator and they go up. The guards realize they are heading to the high security labs and they begin "Plan Z". They decide to "shoot to kill". The elevator fills with gas and Cyclops shoots out the floor and Angel flies them out safely. Jean meanwhile, gets away with Iceman safely too. They soon meet and try to find a way to get into the lab itself. Possibly through a wall.

Dr. Maddicks tries to get his son to enter an escape tunnel. Artie points to Beast and without answering shows that he wants answers from his father. Dr. Maddicks tells of how Beast and Maddicks worked together on research serum. He tells his son that he was going to steal the serum and somehow in the meantime Beast ingested it and got the blue fur he currently has. He also tells Artie of how he was employed by Ryan Biochemical Labs and how Artie joined him and on his eleventh birthday his mutations we seen and he was disfigured and became mute. He says Tower kidnapped Beast so Maddicks could run the tests to find the anti-mutant formula to help "cure" his son. He also says he contacted X-Factor to capture Tower and "remove" any evidence of his crime.

Artie then has a vision that the guards are coming and they all decide to leave. Dr. Maddicks determines that he will stay behind to distract the guards but X-Factor must get his son to safety. They agree and while running through the complex, Artie has a vision of his father being killed and screams without making a noise.

The next day, Cyclops is thinking over his relationship triangle that has been happening between him, Madelyne Pryor and Jean. In walks Jean and she asks what has been bothering him. He finally decides to talk to her about it and Angel yells that Beast is conscious over the intercom. They all go in to see him and the bandages are removed revealing that he looks "human" underneath.
