Synopsis for "Dead Man's Hand"

The Pantheon deals with several defense contractor companies in order to acquire much of the technology that they utilize at the Mount. One of those companies is Hunter Technologies. But lately, HT has become the victim of corporate sabotage. Hector tells the Hulk about a few strange incidents and the Hulk investigates the case.

He discovers that a telekinetic being known as Lazarus has been executing hit and run tactics against Hunter Technology's interests. The Hulk interviews HT’s CEO Jack Cameron. Jack attempts to be as helpful as possible.

The Hulk encounters Lazarus and the two fight. Hulk's strength is nearly useless against Lazarus's telekinetic abilities, but the Hulk is able to use strategy to get the better of him. During the fight, the Hulk learns that Lazarus is actually Todd Hunter, the former founder of Hunter Technologies. Todd’s wife Rose had been having an affair with Jack Cameron. She had Todd killed so that Jack and she could take over the company.

Lazarus kills Jack Cameron and makes his escape. The Hulk tries to follow him but only finds the cemetery grave marker that bears his name. How Todd Hunter rose from the dead and acquired his psionic powers is unknown.

Synopsis for "Still Dead"

The Hulk continues to track Lazarus's whereabouts. He corners him near an amusement park and the two briefly fight, but Lazarus gets away.

Meanwhile, Lazarus's son, Hank Hunter is on the run from the mob. He races his sports car down the freeway as a car full of enforcers chase him down. They eventually catch up with Hank and are prepared to kill him when Lazarus intervenes. Lazarus uses his telekinesis to crush the offenders beneath the weight of several cars. He then flies off into the sky. Hank has no idea that the being who just rescued him is his own father, resurrected from the dead.

Synopsis for "A Town Called Hulk"

Buddy Larue is the mayor of Dustpit, Arizona. In order to bring the town more recognition, he decides to rename the city, Hulk. Naturally, this drastic name change is bound to draw out several super-villains. Titania, the Abomination and Gargantua arrive and completely level the entire town in the hopes of finding the Hulk. They turn up no leads, and leave as quickly as they came. Some time later, the Hulk shows up to check out rumors of the reported name change. He is surprised to find nothing in the formerly-named Dustpit except... a dust pit.

Notes

  • All of Marvel's 1993 Annuals came polybagged with a collector's trading card featuring the hero who first appears in their respective issues.
  • Behind the scenes appearance by Atalanta (Referenced only).


Trivia

  • The opening scene of this issue features a baby smacking the Hulk over the head repeating "Not the Mamma!" The Hulk then tells the infant that he is "not Earl Sinclair". Both of these comments are in reference to a short-lived 1991 night time children's show called Dinosaurs.
  • In "Dead Man's Hand", the Hulk comments that a cemetery is a nice place to hang out "if you're a Will Eisner character". This is a reference to Will Eisner's The Spirit, a character originally published by Quality Comics, and later by DC Comics.
