Synopsis for "The Bride of Ultron!"

With the other Avengers rendered comatose by Ultron, Thor joins Iron Man, the Black Panther, and Wonder Man in seeking their robotic foe. Meanwhile, at his base in an abandoned aerospace research center, Ultron convinces the amnesiac Ant-Man to 3id him in transferring the Wasp's life-force into a newly created female robot. Ant-Man believes he is saving the Wasp's life, but Ultron actually intends to kill Jan in bringing his own bride to life. Alerted to Ultron's whereabouts by a group of ants, the Avengers attack. After a hard-fought struggle, Iron Man threatens to destroy Ultron's prospective mate unless he reveals the computer access code which will allow the Avengers to save the Wasp. Having done so, Ultron ruefully blasts skyward. As Jan is freed and the still addled Hank taken away, the heroes can only speculate whether it was Ultron's bride who caused the ants to summon them.

Notes

  • Wonderman's costume, just given to him in last issue is destroyed. He will go without a costume for years donning a safari jacket and his trademark sun glasses.
  • Wonderman also becomes fixated on the concept of dying when this possibility is mentioned this issue by Thor. For months, he will become tentative in battle until he conquers this phobia in Avengers #177.
  • This issue contains a letters page, "Avengers Assemble". Letters are published from Ann Nicols and Rouge C. Farmer.
