Synopsis for "Beware the Ant-Man!"

To their astonishment, the Avengers are attacked in their mansion by Hank Pym in his Ant-Man identity. His memory regressed to just after the team was formed, he sees his friends as impostors and intruders. Incredibly, Ant-Man succeeds in defeating most of his teammates before the Wasp appears and knocks him out with her sting. She fears her husband has suffered a mental breakdown, but before the other Avengers can attempt to find a cure, Ultron attacks. Although nearly downed by the Scarlet Witch, the mad robot ultimately prevails, defeating the entire team and abducting the Wasp and Ant-Man.

Notes

  • In this issue, Hank Pym has a nervous breakdown. It is later revealed that these were caused by the manipulations of Kang the Conqueror in Avengers #395. Never-the-less, this is the first time Hank Pym has been mentally disoriented since Avengers #60 when he appeared to have an adverse affect from a chemical agent.
  • This issue also contains a letters page Avengers Assemble. Letters are published from Dave Kalis and Don Jacobson.
