Synopsis for "Power of Babel!"
Returning to the States following their battle against the Star Stalker in Viet Nam, the Avengers turn over Zodiac member (and father of Mantis) Libra over to the authorities. Returning to their headquarters they begin to reflect on recent events when they are suddenly visited by Rick Jones' girlfriend Lou-Ann who passes out. The story then recaps the events of Captain Marvel #25-32, summerizing the Avengers involvement with Captain Marvel's continuing struggle against Thanos.
Now flying into space with the Zodiac's star ship and a modified Quinjet, the Avengers defend the Earth against an invasion force gathered by Thanos. The Avengers manage to destroy the aliens translation devices making them unable to communicate with each other, giving the Avengers the edge they need to destroy the entire armada.
Returning to Earth and landing on Avengers Mansion, the Avengers rejoyce over their victory, little knowing that Thanos is preying near-by waiting for the right moment to strike. This story is continued in Captain Marvel #33.
Notes
- The Swordsman returns to active duty this issue, apparently recovered from his torture in Avengers 123 as well as his infected wound from his battle with Valkyrie in Avengers 117.
- Captain America returns to the team this issue. He had been absent since Avengers 121.
- This issue contains a Series "A" Marvel Value Stamp: #69 - Marvel Girl.
