Synopsis for "The Hollow Man!"
Alpha Flight are surprised and confused to see Mac alive, but the Master explains that their former Guardian is now his Antiguard. Alpha Flight and Omega Flight do battle, but Alpha Flight are already tired from their encounter with the Hardliners. The Master begins spouting off about his perfect world, while from her throne on Liveworld, the Dreamqueen knows she cannot allow the Master’s perfect world to come into being, so she aids Alpha Flight by getting into the unconscious Puck’s mind and sending him a dream of Heather in danger. This causes Judd to wake, while Heather thinks of the future that awaits them all, and how her husband - her dead husband - can be involved in this. Alpha Flight begin to fall at the mercy of Omega Flight, despite trying their hardest. Antiguard is about to destroy Heather, who recalls her husbands original dream which she was left to defend when he died so many years ago, and refuses to let the dream die. She finds the strength inside her to blast her husband, then go and help her teammates, who need a leader. This restores Alpha Flight’s energy, and switching opponents, Alpha Flight give Omega Flight just what they deserve. The Master recalls how he found Mac teetering on the edge of interdimensional oblivion and rescued him, moulding him into an equal. The Master begins to fight back using his own powers against Alpha Flight, while Heather is forced to confront Mac once more. From the control room of the Hardliner’s base, Judd begins using the weaponry around the obstacle course to attack the Master, when on cue Windshear and Beta Flight arrive, as he called them in for help. Talisman does some serious damage to the Master, but he fights back, until finally, Heather manages to get through to Mac, who attacks the Master, declaring that his own dream still exists. Heather and Mac combine their powers, and the Master gives up, his dream dead and nothing left to live for, he disappears. So Alpha Flight have saved the world once more, and the Dreamqueen is pleased. The world still exists, with people left to dream, now all she needs is a world without Alpha Flight. And it looks like she is going to get her wish, for back at Department H, Alpha Flight, Beta Flight, Diamond Lil, Box, Nemesis, Wyre, Feedback and Mac are gathered by General Clarke, who explains that in the wake of all the super-powers hysteria, Alpha Flight is being disbanded, and that they are all reduced to advisory roles. No one has anything to say, except Northstar, who declares that he is still a free man and wont be treated like this after all the times he has risked his life in the service of his country. Mac announces that Northstar is right, everyone here has fought long and hard for the right to choose their own destines. ‘The future…is theirs to decide’.
