History

Early Life[]

Clea's history largely mirrors that of her Earth-616 counterpart.

Clea was a resident of the Dark Dimension, an alternate reality version of Earth.

At some point, Clea became the apprentice of Dr. Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme. Clea had feelings for Strange, and while he reciprocated them, Strange was absobred in his work and neglected Clea, treating her as little more than his apprentice.

Nevertheless, Clea's power would continue to grow under Strange's tutelage, and she eventually became next in line to become Sorcerer Supreme. Following the mutation of humanity due to the release of the Terrigen Mist, Strange's servant Wong began to manipulate Clea on behalf of his new master, Mephisto. Using a combination of both magic and simple suggestion, Wong turned Clea away from Strange and drove her into the arms of the Asgardian trickster Loki.[1]

While Strange was searching for a mystical cure for the mutations caused to all of humanity, Clea slew his astral form, trapping it in the Realm of the Dead. With Strange trapped between life and death, Clea assumed the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme and charged Wong with keeping Strange's body alive. [2]

Earth X[]

When Bruce Banner became plagued with dreams of a reborn Captain Mar-Vell dying and an Earth encased in metal, he and Thor traveled to Dr. Strange's Sanctum to seek the aid of Clea. Clea aided them in sending the Hulk to the Realm of the Dead in serach of Mar-Vell. Instead, he found the spirit of Dr. Strange, who warned him of Clea's betrayal. When Thor went after the Hulk, Clea realized that Banner knew the truth and cut the tether securing Thor and the Hulk. Before she and Loki could kill Banner however, Thor and the Hulk arrived. When Loki fled, an enraged Clea attempted to destroy New York City. In order to save the city, Thor banished Clea to Asgard to be punished by Odin. Clea would spend the next three years as Odin's prisoner in Hel.[3] [4]

Paradise X[]

When Stephen Strange was restored to life by Mar-Vell, he sought the aid of Thor, the reformed Loki and Japan's super-team known as Xen to help him free Clea. Battling every form of opposition thrown at them from Frost Giants to the Warriors Three, the invaders caused such a nuisance and a disruption that Odin agreed to free Clea. While Strange confessed his love to her and begged her forgiveness for neglecting her for so many years, Clea refused his request to take him back.[3]

After returning to Earth only to find Japan under attack by the ghost of Fin Fang Foom, Clea and the other heroes worked together to destroy the beast. Afterwards, Clea took her leave of Strange and the others. [3]

Attributes

Powers

Clea of Earth-9997 has the same mystical powers as her Earth-616 counterpart. However if her magical adept hood and if she attained a level of skill to literally be a Sorcerer Supreme (as opposed to in title only by default of usurping Strange's role) remains unknown.

Paraphernalia

Equipment

Prior to her imprisonment in Asgard, Clea had access to the various mystical artifacts and spell books contained in Dr. Strange's Sanctum. She mostly utilized Strange's cloak of levitation, Eye of Agamotto, Orb of Agamotto, and candles that recreated the visions of peoples dreams, and candles that opened doorways into the Realm of the Dead.
