HistoryEdit

Carson Bells was an American actor who was at the height of his popularity in the 1940s. In the early 1940s he promoted the purchase of war bonds, and in January of 1943 he made an appearance in Freetown to put on a performance about the dangers of the Third Reich should they invade the United States. However, Nazi spies attempted to eliminate his actors portraying Nazis by carbon monoxide poisoning. Taking their place, they kidnapped Carson and took him to a nearby mill.

The only person who realized the truth was young Roddy Colt, who was secretly the costumed hero the Secret Stamp. As Roddy searched for Carson in his costumed identity, the Nazis threatened to kill the actor if he did not agree to get 50 thousand dollars from the film studio that employed him. The Secret Stamp had located the spies and freed Bells. When the lights were put out, Bells assisted the Secret Stamp in an unconventional way: using his ventriloquism skills he confused the Nazis allowing the Stamp to beat them into submission. After the spies were defeated and being taken to the authorities, the Secret Stamp told Bells that his "friend" Roddy Colt deserved the credit.

By the time Bells was rescued, his studio had offered a one million dollar reward to anyone who safely rescued him. Roddy was rewarded the money but he quickly donated the full amount to the war bond charity that Bells had organized. By the time the drive in Freetown was over, Bells had collected over two million dollars for the defense effort.

His subsequent activities are unrevealed.

TriviaEdit

Carson Bells was based on actor Orson Wells who was at the height of his popularity during the 1940s. Although he never participated in the collection of war bonds, he was a strong supporter of President Roosevelt during World War II.
