The burglar who broke into the Parker home on Earth-51977 had a similar history to his Earth-616 counterpart until the day that Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider. In this reality, Peter would be crippled by the spider-bite and some time later would be endowed with the powers of Nova.

For unexplained reasons, the burglar would not break into the Parker home until much later than in the Earth-616 reality, and when he would attempt to shoot Ben Parker, Peter would bolt in and deflect the bullet with his invulnerable body. The bullet would strike and kill the burglar. Although Peter was acting in self defense, he would consider the burglar yet another victim of his personal jinx on people and abandon his costume, giving up the opportunity to use his powers for good.
