The title of the Black Knight is a title that has been passed around throughout the centuries to the current wielder of the magical Ebony Blade, many of whom have been descendants of 6th century adventurer Sir Percy of Scandia, the first man to take on the name of the Black Knight.

In more modern times, the title of the Black Knight has been used by two of Sir Percy's descendants: Nathan Garrett, a villain and founding member of the Masters of Evil, and Garrett's nephew Dane Whitman, a hero and member of the Avengers.
