Quote1 Think about it. Billy's not the problem. The problem is Wanda Maximoff. She's the one who lost her mind. She's the one who made mutants an endangered species. She's the one who murdered my dad. And why did she do all that? Because she thought she'd lost her kid. So if we can show her that her sons are alive and well, she can undo it all. All of it. And can reverse the spell, give the mutants back their powers...and she can bring my dad back to life. Quote2

Synopsis for "The Children's Crusade - Part I"Edit

The Young Avengers are on the move once again, taking on the terrorist group called the Sons of the Serpent. The latter's goals are said to be maintaining racial and moral purity, goals which includes complete racism, anti-homosexuality and anti-uppity women, even quoting the Bible to justify murder. Hulkling, offended by such sentiments, gave one of the terrorists a bigger insult: a kiss on the cheek.

Enraged, the terrorist blasts Hulkling in the chest, though Hulkling's tough skin protected him. The Avengers then arrive to quell the dispute. One of the terrorists threatened to set off the nuke strapped to his back. Seeing that his boyfriend is in danger, Wiccan warned the terrorist to let him go. As the terrorist pushed the detonator, there was a big white flash, not due to the nuke, but it is revealed to be caused by Wiccan, hovering in the air with immense power, as all the Sons collapse.

When they return to Young Avengers HQ, Wiccan is told by the Avengers that he had rendered the Sons comatose. Uncertain of Wiccan's abilities, he is told to stay with them, for they don't want another Scarlet Witch on their hands. The Avengers explained that the trauma of the Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff losing her twin boys, caused her to go insane, killing Hawkeye, the original Vision and Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man. When she was taken to Genosha to recover, she was persuaded by Quicksilver to create a world where mutants reign supreme. But the events of the House of M instead compelled her to strip nearly all of mutantkind of their powers.

After being shocked by these revelations, Wiccan concludes that if he has the power to do something like that, then it must be that he and Speed are truly the Scarlet Witch's sons. Furthermore, he doesn't believe that she was truly responsible for any of these events. Disappointed that the heroes he idolized would be so distrustful of their former teammate, he storms out on the Avengers. His fellow Young Avengers chase after him, trying to reason with him. He doesn't listen to them and heads home.

But when he walks into his apartment, he finds that Captain America has beaten him to it, having told his parents all about the whole affair. Therefore, Wiccan has no choice but to live with the Avengers until they can determine how powerful he is. But rather than hailing a cab, Wiccan simply uses his magic to fly them to Avengers Tower. En route, Wiccan tries reasserting his theory again, thinking that perhaps Immortus or Chthon were behind his possible mother's madness, to which Captain America denies, for Dr. Strange might've sensed it.

Then out of nowhere, Hulkling blocked their path, stating that wherever Wiccan goes, he would go too, which Captain America agreed. The two are set up a two-bed room in Avengers Tower, which looks more like a prison cell, until Wiccan changes it into a luxury lounge like room.

Just as Hulkling was slowly convincing Wiccan to submit to the Avengers' tests, their friends have decided to break them out. They are willing to stick by Wiccan's side, even if he loses control of his powers. But Wiccan wants to break back in Avengers Tower, for he would have nothing else to do but run. However, Stature suggested that he could do one thing: find the Scarlet Witch.

Her belief is that if the Scarlet Witch knew that her kids were alive, then perhaps she may be able to reverse everything, including give mutants back their powers and restore her father back to life. She reasons that if the Scarlet Witch was able to bring back Wonder Man and Clint Barton, then she could bring her father back. Then suddenly, Magneto appears, agreeing with her sentiments, and is eager to meet his grandsons.
