The Avengers were disbanded, and everything Tony tried wouldn't bring them back together, including building them custom Iron Man suits. When Hulk and Namor teamed up and challenged the team to an all-out fight, Tony responded himself. Of course, his friends ended up backing him up, though he still ended up dying in the confrontation.
