Anya was the mother of Magda Lehnsherr, the wife of Magneto. Anya and Magda worked at a school in Nurnberg, Germany, while Magda was young. At some point, Anya and Magda were sent to Marzahn Detention Camp and later reunited with Max Eisenhardt, Magneto's original name, in the Vernichtungslager Extermination Camp in Auschwitz, Poland. Anya never survived.
