History

The past history of Anton Lupeski is greatly unknown, however he either founded or became a member of a Massachusetts based Satanic cult, eventually becoming its leader. Among his followers he coerced a young woman named Domini into their ranks.[1] Seeking to found a religion in order to obtain loyal followers, the vampire lord Dracula seeked out Lupeski's church in order to use it to these ends. Dracula arrived on a night that Lupeski would be offering Domini, now a faithful member of his church, to Satan to be his bride. Dracula interrupted the ceremony, posing as the Devil and took Domini to be his bride.[2]

The cult came to believe Dracula's ruse, however Anton himself soon learned that Dracula was really the fabled vampire, and not the dark lord everyone thought he was. However, he allowed the charade to continue because it suited his own ends.[3]

Anton Lupeski later officiated the Satanic wedding between Dracula and Domini,[4] and later conducted the mystical ceremony that impregnated Domini with Dracula's child.[3] This last ceremony was interrupted by Domini's own father who attempted to save her from the cult and be killed by Dracula. At that time, Lupeski hinted to Domini that he knew the truth about Dracula and requested to speak to her in private in the future.

Lupeski next went to Dracula to express his concerns about the cult's financing, to which Dracula began organizing a party of the wealthy and elite to gather support and funds. It's during this encounter that Lupeski began plotting to destroy Dracula, finding that now that Domini was pregnant with Dracula's child -- whom Lupeski wished to use as an anti-christ figurehead in his cult, and tutor himself, was all that was required.[5] To this end, Anton's first attempt to destroy Dracula was by manipulating the Silver Surfer into attacking Dracula, however this attempt ultimately failed when the Surfer failed to destroy Dracula.[6]

When Frank Drake and Harold H. Harold foolishly broke into Lupeski's home in an attempt to find and destroy Dracula, Lupeski and his followers took them prisoner.[5][6] Rachel van Helsing came to their rescue, and despite the involvement of Dracula in the battle, they escaped when van Helsing managed to seriously wound Dracula with an arrow to the heart. Presented with an opportunity to kill Dracula, Lupeski decided not to as revelation to his followers that Dracula was really a vampire and not Satan would work contrary to his plans.[7]

Lupeski then hosted a party for Dracula and Domini to gather funds and followers for their cult. The part was crashed by Deacon Frost's vampiric Blade doppelganger and Hannibal King. During the confusion, Anton took Domini to a safe place and revealed that he knew the truth about Dracula and asked for her aid in destroying him. Domini however revealed that she knew the truth about Dracula and that she refused to allow harm to come to her husband.[7]

On Christmas Eve, the night that Dracula's child Janus was to be born, Lupeski tipped off Rachel van Helsing and the other vampire hunters to Dracula's location in the hope that they would destroy Dracula. This plan also failed when the hunters realized that Dracula's wife was giving birth to a child and were unwilling to risk the baby.[1]

Prior to revealing his son to his followers, Dracula had a meeting with Lupeski where he revealed that he was taking full control of the church, having no interest in worshiping Satan and wanting to use the cult to serve his own ends: world domination. This troubled Lupeski who attempted to sway the service so that his followers would find more importance in the young Janus rather that Dracula, hoping that when he finally destroyed Dracula he would become a martyr to his agendas.[8]

Lupeski then attempted one last time to convince Domini to help him destroy Dracula during a celebration banquet for Janus. Domini refused to take part in the attack, however she maintained her silence.[9] Anton turned to Quincy Harker and his vampire hunters for aid once more, tipping them off to the ceremony and providing them with special guns with which to kill Dracula. Participating in the attack, Lupeski revealed his duplicity to Dracula and attempted to kill the vampire lord. However, tragedy struck when Anton attempted to make a kill shot on Dracula, and the vampire lord turned to mist to dodge it. The bullet intended for Dracula instead strike and killed Janus. The death of the child horrify everyone at the site, including the vampire hunters, putting an end to the fight. In a rage of fury, Dracula then crushed Lupeski's skull with his bare hands.[10]

Abilities

Lupeski was an expert Satanist and was able to prepare and execute many mystical ceremonies. He had enough mystical skill to perform a ceremony that impregnated Domini with Dracula's son. The full extent of his abilities are unknown, as he was unable to summon the real Satan, and it appears that the birth of Janus was all orchestrated by a higher power, so it is unknown how much real skill Lupeski truly had.
